Ashanti Shequoiya Douglas is an American singer, songwriter, and actress. She was first discovered as a teenager and later signed to Murder Inc. Records in 2002. That year, she was featured on Fat Joe's "What's Luv?" and Ja Rule's "Always on Time", both of which became two of the biggest hit songs of 2002. She became the first female artist to occupy the top two positions on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart simultaneously with "Foolish" and "What's Luv?" at numbers one and two, respectively.

"Into You" originally featured Ashanti, but after Irv Gotti of Murder Inc. Records refused to let her film a music video to promote the single, Fabolous reached out to Tamia to re-record a commercial version. Both the album and single versions received heavy radio-play, resulting in all three artists being credited on the US Billboard Hot 100.
"Southside" is the debut single from American R&B singer Lloyd and features Ashanti. It was written by T. Hale, W. Morris, Tab and by producer Jimi Kendrix for his debut studio album, Southside (2004). It peaked at number 13 on the U.S. Billboard Hot R&B Songs chart, and peaked at number 24 on the Billboard Hot 100. The remix featured rapper Scarface and Ashanti. The remix was released as the third and final single from the album.
