Sivongxay studied in the former USSR for her undergraduate and Masters qualifications, before studying for a PhD at Khon Kaen University in Thailand, where she specialised in zooplankton. [1] She is a National Expert on zooplankton and works as part of the Ecological Health Monitoring initiative in the Lower Mekong basin. [1] From 2013 to 2017 she was a co-investigator on the project 'Biodiversity and conservation in the Lower Mekong: empowering female herpetologists through capacity building and regional networking'. [2] As the project lead in Laos, she led eighteen field expeditions to record amphibians in the region. [2]

She is Director of the South East Asian Ministers of Education Organisation (SEAMEO) Regional Centre for Community Education Development, at the Ministry of Education. [1] [3] She is also Assistant Professor of Biology at the National University of Laos. [4]

They are characterized by a stocky body with slender, short hindlimbs. In identifying species, iris colour is a valuable diagnostic morphological characteristic ; the iris has uniform colour in some species, whereas in other species the upper half is coloured and the lower half is dark.

<i>Theloderma</i> Genus of amphibians

Theloderma, the bug-eyed frogs, mossy frogs or warty frogs, is a genus of frogs in the family Rhacophoridae, subfamily Rhacophorinae. They are found from northeastern India and southern China, through Southeast Asia, to the Greater Sunda Islands; the highest species richness is in Indochina. Some species, especially T. corticale, are sometimes kept in captivity.

<i>Limnonectes</i> Genus of fork-tongued frogs

Limnonectes is a genus of fork-tongued frogs of about 75 known species, but new ones are still being described occasionally. They are collectively known as fanged frogs because they tend to have unusually large teeth, which are small or absent in other frogs.

Occidozyga is a genus of frogs in the family Dicroglossidae found in southeastern Asia between eastern India, southern China, and Java. They sometimes go under the common name Java frogs or floating frogs.

<i>Sphaerotheca</i> (frog) Genus of amphibians

Sphaerotheca is a genus of true frogs. They can be found in South Asia. Molecular data suggest that they are closely related to Fejervarya, perhaps as a monophyletic group within a paraphyletic Fejervarya.

Leptobrachium buchardi is a species of amphibian in the family Megophryidae. It is endemic to Laos and only known from the Bolaven Plateau in the Champasak Province, near its type locality within the Dong Hua Sao National Protected Area. Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical moist montane forests. It is threatened by habitat loss.

<i>Limnonectes limborgi</i> Species of frog

Limnonectes limborgi is a species of frog in the Dicroglossidae. It is found in Burma, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam; it might well occur in Northeast India and Yunnan, China. It is a small frog, males being 30–38 mm (1.2–1.5 in) and females 28–36 mm (1.1–1.4 in) snout-vent length.

It range might extend into the adjacent Nepal. The specific name jerdonii honours Thomas C. Jerdon, an English herpetologist. Common names Jerdon's bubble-nest frog, Jerdon's tree frog, and Jerdon's bush frog have been coined for this species.
