Nicholas Ryan Swirad (born 28 May 1991) is a Malaysian professional footballer who plays as a centre-back for Thai League 2 club Nongbua Pitchaya and the Malaysia national team. [5]

Club career

After playing in non-league football in England, Swirad joined NPL Tasmania side Northern Rangers in 2015, playing 16 matches and scoring twice for the club in all competitions. [6]

Johor Darul Ta'zim FC II

At the end of the 2015–16 season, Nicholas left Northern Rangers to sign for Johor Darul Ta'zim II of the Malaysia Premier League. His registration was delayed, due to having to apply for a Malaysian passport. In September 2016 he received his Malaysian passport, which enabled him to play for JDT II as well as the Malaysia national football team.

Melaka United

On 12 June 2017, Nicholas joined Super League team Melaka United on a season loan. [7] [8] He made his first-team debut for Melaka United in July 2017.[ citation needed ]

International career

In March 2019, Swirad received his first call-up to the Malaysia national football team but a groin injury prevented him from making his debut. [9]
