Nicholas David Thornicroft (born 23 January 1985) is an English first-class cricketer. [1] He is a left-handed batsman and a right-arm medium-fast bowler,who played first-class cricket for Yorkshire County Cricket Club from 2002 until 2007. [1]
Thornicroft made his debut for the Yorkshire Cricket Board in 2001,in the Cheltenham &Gloucester Trophy. He played in his debut first-class match for Yorkshire County Cricket Club in the 2002 County Championship, [1] although Yorkshire finished that season in bottom place in the First Division,being relegated to Division Two for the 2003 season. Thornicroft held the lowest first-class bowling average of the Yorkshire team in 2002. He was the youngest ever Roses Match debutant,that year,when he played for Yorkshire against Lancashire at the age of 17. [2]
Thornicroft appeared in only one first-class match during the following season,although he played in five Youth One Day Internationals and three Youth Tests during the calendar year of 2003,both during an English tour of Australia,before coming back home and playing two Youth Tests against South Africa. Thornicroft spent 2004 and 2005 playing little first-class cricket,although he continued in a consistent vein of form when sent out on loan to Essex's Second XI.
During the 2006 season,Thornicroft played no first-class matches. He was subsequently released by Yorkshire in 2007. [1]
Thornicroft is a supporter of his hometown football club,York City F.C. [3]

John Harry Hampshire,also known as Jack Hampshire,was an English cricketer and umpire,who played eight Tests and three One Day Internationals (ODIs) for England between 1969 and 1975. He played first-class cricket for Yorkshire from 1961 to 1981,and for Derbyshire from 1982 to 1984. Overseas,he was a successful captain of Tasmania in the period before the state was included in the Sheffield Shield. He was also appointed President of Yorkshire County Cricket Club in 2016,serving until his death a year later.
James Middlebrook is a former English first-class cricketer,who last played for Yorkshire County Cricket Club on a short-term contract. He played as an all-rounder,batting right-handed and bowling off spin. Since retiring from professional cricket Middlebrook has become an umpire,standing in first-class matches from the 2017 season onwards.
Albert Ward was an English first-class cricketer,who played first-class cricket for Yorkshire County Cricket Club in 1886,and for Lancashire between 1889 and 1904. Ward also played seven Test matches for England,and was named as one of the Wisden Cricketers of the Year in 1890.

Kent County Cricket Club's 1909 season was the twentieth season in which the county club competed in the County Championship. Kent played 30 first-class cricket matches during the season,losing only two matches overall,and won their second championship title. They finished clearly ahead of second place Lancashire in the 1909 County Championship with the previous year's winners,Yorkshire,in third place.
