Nicola Wheeler (born 4 April 1974) is an English actress, best known for playing the role of Nicola King in ITV's Emmerdale .

Wheeler was raised in Nelson, Lancashire, and attended Walton High School.


Pre-fame, she appeared on Derek Acorah's Ghost Towns in the episode from Halifax, her first screen role was on Coronation Street as Melanie Tindel. In 1997 Nicola played Claudia, the girlfriend of Vincent Marshall in Kay Mellor's Gold formerly called Band of Gold. She joined Emmerdale as Nicola Blackstock in 2001 and served for five years, before returning in 2007. She won “Best Bitch” at the The British Soap Awards 2006 for her portrayal of Nicola.

Wheeler appeared on the Sky One reality show Cirque de Celebrité but was voted out on the fifth week by Blazin' Squad member Kenzie. She appeared in the Halifax Pantomime as the Wicked Witch.[ citation needed ]

Wheeler was also the celebrity guest, along with Malandra Burrows at the Leeds Dogs Trust Waggy Walks event at Temple Newsam on 3 October 2010. Wheeler opened the walk and then completed the 5 km walk with her dog Jasper.

    Nicola King is a fictional character from the British ITV soap opera, Emmerdale. She has been played by Nicola Wheeler since she joined the soap in 2001. Wheeler quit her role in January 2006, with her on-screen departure airing in March. In July 2007, it was announced that Wheeler chose to return to the soap eighteen months later and made her return in September 2007. She also took maternity leave throughout 2015, and Nicola departed temporarily on 26 March 2015 to go to Dubai to work there for six months.
