The Washington Metro,often abbreviated as the Metro and formally the Metrorail,is a rapid transit system serving the Washington metropolitan area of the United States. It is administered by the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA),which also operates the Metrobus service under the Metro name. Opened in 1976,the network now includes six lines,98 stations,and 129 miles (208 km) of route.
The Blue Line is a rapid transit line of the Washington Metro system,consisting of 28 stations in Fairfax County,Alexandria and Arlington,Virginia;Washington,D.C.;and Prince George's County,Maryland,United States. The Blue Line runs from Franconia–Springfield to Downtown Largo. The line shares track with the Orange Line for 13 stations,the Silver Line for 18,and the Yellow Line for 7. Only 3 stations are exclusive to the Blue Line.
The Yellow Line is a rapid transit line of the Washington Metro system that runs between Huntington in Virginia and Mount Vernon Square in Washington,D.C. It consists of 13 stations in Fairfax County,Alexandria County,and Arlington County in Virginia,as well as Washington,D.C. It is the shortest line in the system,and since its truncation to Mount Vernon Square,it is the only line that does not enter Maryland.

The J. Edgar Hoover Building is a low-rise office building located at 935 Pennsylvania Avenue NW in Washington,D.C.,in the United States. It is the headquarters of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
Landover Mall was a large shopping mall located in Landover,Maryland,directly across from FedExField,off MD 202 and Interstates 95 and 495. The mall was built by Sonny Abramson and Ted Lerner of Lerner Enterprises,and opened in 1972. Like its neighbor,Capital Plaza Mall,it was a major attraction through its opening years in Prince George's County. The mall featured many anchors and smaller tenants;however,upon the decline and closing of its major anchors,the mall itself entered a state of decline. Finally,in 2002,the mall's doors were closed and it ultimately was demolished in 2006. Sears remained open because it owned the land beneath the store. Sears later sold the land underneath its store to Lerner. In January 2014,Sears announced that it would close in March.

Its fleet consists of 1,595 buses covering an area of 1,500 square miles (3,900 km2) in Washington,D.C.,Maryland,and Virginia. There are 269 bus routes serving 11,129 stops,including 2,554 bus shelters. In 2022,the system had a ridership of 90,123,200,or about 350,700 per weekday as of the second quarter of 2023.
The Silver Line is a rapid transit line of the Washington Metro system,consisting of 34 stations in Loudoun County,Fairfax County and Arlington County,Virginia,Washington,D.C.,as well as Prince George's County,Maryland. The Silver Line runs from Ashburn in Virginia to Downtown Largo in Maryland. Five stations,from both lines' eastern terminus at Downtown Largo to Benning Road,are shared with the Blue Line alone;thirteen stations,from Stadium–Armory to Rosslyn,with both the Orange Line and Blue Lines;and five stations from Court House to East Falls Church with the Orange Line alone. Only the five stations of Phase 1,which began service on July 26,2014,and the six stations of Phase 2,which began service on November 15,2022,are exclusive to the Silver Line.
Muriel Elizabeth Bowser is an American politician serving since 2015 as the mayor of the District of Columbia. A member of the Democratic Party,she previously represented the 4th ward as a member of the Council of the District of Columbia from 2007 to 2015. She is the second female mayor of the District of Columbia after Sharon Pratt,and the first woman to be reelected to that position.

Audi Field is a soccer-specific stadium in Buzzard Point in Washington,D.C. It is the home stadium for both of Washington,D.C.'s professional soccer teams,D.C. United in Major League Soccer and Washington Spirit in the National Women's Soccer League,as well as housing the DC Defenders of the XFL. The stadium seats 20,000 people.
Potomac Yard station is a Washington Metro station in Alexandria,Virginia,United States. It is operated by the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA),serving both the Blue and Yellow Lines,and opened on May 19,2023. It is located at Alexandria's 7.5-million-square-foot (700,000 m2) Potomac Yard mixed-use development bounded by Richmond Highway and the George Washington Memorial Parkway. It is the second infill station to be added to the Washington Metro system,after NoMa–Gallaudet U in 2004. It was constructed on the site of Potomac Yard,a former railroad freight yard.

Emily Webster Murphy is an American attorney and former government official who served as the administrator of the General Services Administration (GSA) from 2017 to 2021. Before serving in the GSA,Murphy was an attorney for the Republican National Committee and worked for several congressional committees and executive departments in the field of acquisition policy.
The D.C.–Dulles Line,designated Route 5A,was a bus route operated by the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) between Washington Dulles International Airport and L'Enfant Plaza station of the Blue,Yellow,Orange,Green and Silver lines of the Washington Metro. The line operated every 30–40 minutes on weekdays and 60 minutes on weekends along the Dulles Toll Road,Interstate 66,Richmond Highway and Interstate 395 between these two locations with no intermediate stops,with the exception of the Herndon–Monroe Park &Ride and Rosslyn station. The trip was approximately 50 minutes long.
The first cases relating to the COVID-19 pandemic in Washington,D.C.,were reported on March 7,2020. The city has enacted a variety of public health measures in an attempt to curb the spread of the virus,including limiting business activities,suspending non-essential work,and closing down schools.
The 14th Street Limited Line,designated Route 59,is a limited stop peak hour-only MetroExtra bus route operated by the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority between Takoma station which is served by the Red Line of the Washington Metro and Federal Triangle station which is served by the Orange,Blue,and Silver lines of the Washington Metro. The line operates every 15 minutes during rush hours and trips are roughly 50 minutes. This line provides additional service during peak hours along the 14th Street corridor supplementing routes 52 and 54.
Pamela A. Smith began serving as the chief of the Metropolitan Police Department of the District of Columbia after being unanimously confirmed by the D.C. Council on November 7,2023. She had been serving in an acting capacity since July 2023. She joined the MPD in 2022 as its chief equity officer. Smith was previously the United States Park Police chief of police from 2021 to 2022. She was the first African-American female to serve in the role.
