Nityananda Pradhan (born 18 November 1944) is an Indian politician. He was a member of the 15th Lok Sabha,representing Aska (Lok Sabha constituency). [1] He left Communist Party of India and joined Biju Janata Dal (BJD) in 2008. [2] He is a former member of Legislative Assembly of Odisha.
The Biju Janata Dal is a regional political party in the Indian state of Odisha founded and led by Naveen Patnaik,the current Chief Minister of Odisha and the son of former Chief Minister of Odisha Biju Patnaik,after whom the party is named. It was founded on 26 December 1997.
Naveen Patnaik is an Indian politician serving as the current and 14th Chief Minister of Odisha. He is also the president of the Biju Janata Dal,a writer and has authored three books. He is the longest-serving chief minister of Odisha and as of 2021,one of the longest-serving chief ministers of any Indian state,holding the post for over two decades,and only the third Indian chief Minister after Pawan Chamling and Jyoti Basu to win five consecutive terms as Chief Minister of an Indian state.
