The Aggies, led by sixth year head coach Tarrell Robinson, play their home games at the Corbett Sports Center in Greensboro, North Carolina as members of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference. They finished the season 23–9, 15–1 in MEAC play win the MEAC regular season title with Bethune–Cookman. They won the MEAC women's tournament and earned an automatic place in the NCAA women's tournament where they lost to South Carolina in the first round.

The Eagles, were led by first year head coach Joanna Bernabei-McNamee. They play their home games at the Conte Forum and were members of the Atlantic Coast Conference. They finished the season 14–16, 3–13 in ACC play in thirteenth place. They lost in the first round of the ACC women's tournament to Virginia.

The 2020–21 Atlantic Coast Conference women's basketball season began with practices in November 2020, followed by the start of the 2020–21 NCAA Division I women's basketball season in November. Conference play started in December 2020 and will conclude in March with the 2021 ACC women's basketball tournament at the Greensboro Coliseum in Greensboro, NC.
