Northwest R-I ranks 27th out of 562 school districts in the state of Missouri in terms of student body population. [3] 93% of the student body is White. 91% of students of Northwest R-I graduate from high school. The average ACT score is 20 falling almost a point below the Missouri average as of the 2017 school year. [4]

History

In 2017 the district had 6,300 students. Desi Kirchofer became superintendent in 2017. [5] With a vote of 7-0, the Northwest R-1 Board of Education voted Dr. Jennifer Hecktor to become the new superintendent on July 1, 2022 following Dr.Kirchofer's retirement on May 31, 2022. [6]

The Francis Howell School District has provided education in St. Charles County, Missouri since 1830. Through mergers, it became the Consolidated School District No. 2 of St. Charles County in 1913, and the Francis Howell Reorganized School District #3 in 1951. Normandy Schools Collaborative is a public school district serving 23 municipalities in northern St. Louis County, Missouri. The district operates one comprehensive high school which includes an alternative education program, five grade 1-8 elementary schools, and one early learning center. The district is named for Normandy, Missouri, one of the primary municipalities served by the district. The Missouri Board of Education voted to end the school district on June 30, 2014. It lost state accreditation that year for poor academic performance. An appointed board replaced the elected board, and the district became a new entity called the “Normandy Schools Collaborative.” The state had direct oversight of the schools.
