Norton is an indie rock band formed in Castelo Branco, Portugal. They have released five albums to date and toured all over Europe and Japan.
In April 2003 the EP 'Make Me Sound was released and it is considered one of the records of the year by the local music press, in Portugal. [1]
Blue Song is part of the compilation "007" released by the Portuguese label Bor Land and the song Summer Beat is part of Rock Sound Magazine – Portuguese Edition – CD Sample.
In May 2004 they released their debut album Pictures From Our Thoughts. [2]
The first single, Swirling Sound, is part of the compilation Super Castelo Branco, [3] Summer Beat (Autumn Version) is part of Losing Today Magazine – Italy – CD Sample and Chocolate enters in the O.S.T. of the snowskate movie Adieu - Norway, and also of the compilation Can Take You Anywhere You Want. The record had Rita Redshoes and Ricardo Coelho (Loto) as special guests.
In 2005 they invited some Portuguese artists to remix the songs of the debut album. Frames > Remixes & Versions has remixes by Nuno Gonçalves (The Gift), Loto, Rui Maia (X-Wife / Mirror People), Kubik and many more. The record has also four acoustic songs, recorded for the radio show 3 Pistas from Antena 3 – Radio Station. Between those songs appears a version of The Velvet Underground's song Sunday Morning.
In October of that year they present, exclusively, the show Norton Plays Indie Rock on Film. Produced especially for Imago Film Festival, the band versioned songs that are part of various movies. [5]
In March 2007 Norton released their second album, Kersche, which took them to a big tour around Spain.
The year after the record was released in Japan and features exclusive remixes by Roger O'Donnell (The Cure), Jaguar and Leander. [6]
In the same year artists from all around the globe remixed the songs of the record in Kersche Remixed. FM Belfast (Iceland), Lost Room (Sweden), Muxuu (Malaysia), Corwood Manual (Germany), Cars & Trains (US) are some of the guests.
In February 2009 they released a version of Technotronic's hit single Pump Up the Jam . [7]
In December of the same year they made their first European tour, where they visited Spain, Germany, Netherlands, Luxembourg and France. [8]
In 2010 they released Make It Last, an exclusive song made especially for the Portuguese movie "Um Funeral à Chuva", directed by Telmo Martins. [9]
In March 2011 their third record came out. Layers of Love United includes the hit single Two Points, the song with most airplay in Antena 3 Radio Station during that year. [10]
The Japanese version of the album was released in June and has three acoustic bonus tracks. One of them is Paris, by the British band Friendly Fires.
In 2012 Layers of Love United was released on limited edition, numbered, white vinyl, which also has the Paris version as a bonus track. [11]
In the same year Norton released the song "Charlie", as an advance single for the compilation Teenagers From Outer Space Comeback – a tribute to Bee Keeper, and the E.P. Live Acoustic, which has six songs from Layers of Love United played live acoustic, in a showcase, in Lisbon, Portugal.
In March 2014 Norton was released in CD and in red vinyl, simultaneously with a Japanese edition. The presentation single of the record is Magnets, which was one of the most played songs in Portuguese radio stations that year. Brava and Drifting Ballet were the other singles of the album. [12]
In the beginning of 2015 they made a version of Lady (Hear Me Tonight), by the French duo Modjo. The version was an invitation by Antena 3 Radio Station to help celebrate their 20th anniversary. [13]
In December of the same year they made their first Japanese tour, where they were headliners in Spin. Discovery Festival, in Tokyo. [14]
In December 2017 the band closed the 2014 album tour with a concert at Centro Cultural de Belém in Lisbon, Portugal
In 2016 the band began working on their fifth record.
On 4 October 2019 the band released their comeback single "Changes". The video for the song features the russian longboarder Valeriya Gogunskaya.
On 22 January 2020 the band announced that the new album will be called Heavy Light . On the same day they released 'Passengers', the second single from the record. The song was presented with a video with footage from their Japanese tour.
On 11 March 2020, '1997' the third single from the album was released.
Heavy Light was released on 3 July 2020 and nearly all of the shows of the live tour were cancelled or postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
On 2 July 2021 the band released a new remix made by Peter Kember / Sonic Boom, producer of bands like MGMT, Beach House or Panda Bear. The song is called "Galaxies - New Atlantis".
In October they released the new single "Young Blood (Daylight)" featuring Filipa Leão, on vocals.
On November 4 of the same year, they were announced as one of the 16 composers invited by RTP to write a song for Festival da Canção 2022, and in January 2022 they released the single "Hope" - the song they presented at the Festival and which had a great critical reaction. [50]
In October 2023, the song "Young Blood (Daylight)" is published in the compilation - Super Castelo Branco - Volume II.
Minus the Bear was an American indie rock band formed in Seattle, Washington, in 2001, and comprising members of Botch, Kill Sadie, and Sharks Keep Moving. Their sound was described as "Pele-esque guitar-taps and electronics with sophisticated time signature composition."
Jesu are a British experimental metal band formed in 2003 by Justin Broadrick following the breakup of his band Godflesh. It shares its name with the last song on Hymns, the final album of Godflesh's initial run. Jesu's sound is heavily layered and textured, incorporating a diverse mix of influences. Broadrick himself has stated that "...it's very loosely speaking pop/rock/metal/electronica ... I'm intentionally writing what I consider to be coherent 'pop' songs".
Starflyer 59 is an American alternative rock band from Riverside, California that was founded in 1993 by Jason Martin, brother of Ronnie Martin of Joy Electric. While Jason Martin has written nearly all of Starflyer 59's songs, the band has included a number of different musicians over the years, including Jeff Cloud, Frank Lenz, and Richard Swift. The band's sound was initially identified as an outgrowth of the shoegaze movement of the early 1990s, but the band's music has gradually evolved to the point of little resemblance to that of its early days.
Loveppears is the second studio album by Japanese recording artist Ayumi Hamasaki. It was released in Japan, Hong Kong and China on November 10, 1999, through Avex Trax and the China Record Corporation, and distributed worldwide on April 10, 2001, by Avex Entertainment Inc. It was entirely written by Hamasaki herself, while the production was handled by Japanese musician Max Matsuura. Musically, Loveppears is a dance album and lyrically focuses on themes of love, frustration of life, loneliness, and individualism.
Double Platinum is the first greatest hits album by the American hard rock band Kiss, released in 1978. Many of the songs on Double Platinum were remixed and differed from their original versions: in the case of "Strutter," it was re-recorded with a slight disco beat and dubbed "Strutter '78." Other songs had sections completely removed, while the beginning of "Black Diamond" was repeated at the end, fading out at the start of the first verse and giving the song a "wrap around" feel.
"Motorhead" is a song written by Ian "Lemmy" Kilmister while he was a member of the English space rock band Hawkwind. It was later recorded by Motörhead, as he called it this instead of Bastard on his then manager's advice.
Temposhark was an English electronic rock band, formed in London and Brighton by singer-songwriter Robert Diament and one-time music producer Luke Busby. Temposhark were best known for their songs "Bye Bye Baby", "Joy", "It's Better To Have Loved" and "Not That Big", a duet with singer Imogen Heap which appeared on their 2008 debut album, The Invisible Line. Their second album, Threads, was released in 2010 and reached the top 15 on the iTunes UK electronic albums chart. Other notable artist collaborations include Guy Sigsworth, Sean McGhee, Youth from Killing Joke, Kate Havnevik, Melnyk, Camille, MaJiKer, Morgan Page, Avril and the virtuoso violinist Sophie Solomon. Temposhark's music has been featured in numerous television programmes, including the US advertising campaign for British TV series Downton Abbey in 2011.
"Appears" is a song recorded by Japanese recording artist Ayumi Hamasaki. It was released by Avex Trax on November 10, 1999 as the sixth single from her second studio album Loveppears (1999), which was released on the same day. Alongside this, it has been released in several other territories with different release dates under her Western alias Ayu. It also served as Hamasaki's first limited edition single, limiting physical sales to 300,000 copies. The track was written by Hamasaki herself, while production was handled by long-time collaborator Max Matsuura. Musically, "Appears" is a dance song written in third person perspective, and is about the third person watching what appears to be a happy and loving relationship. Upon its release, "Appears" received positive reviews from music critics. Alexey Eremenko, writing for AllMusic, selected the track as the best song from the album and her career. However, an editor from CD Journal criticized the amount of remixes on the CD single.
Dolly Mixture were an English rock band, formed in 1978 by the bassist and vocalist Debsey Wykes, guitarist and vocalist Rachel Bor, and drummer Hester Smith. They had a taste of top 40 success performing backing vocals for the Captain Sensible hit "Wot", a top 10 hit with Sensible on "Glad It's All Over", and a UK No. 1 hit backing Sensible on his 1982 cover of "Happy Talk". Rachel Bor also featured on the Animus/Loose Records single "Wot NO Meat?" also by Captain Sensible in 1985. Bor and Wykes performed together on 24 April 2013 at the Islington Assembly Hall in London.
"Love" is a song written and performed by John Lennon, originally released on his debut solo album John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band (1970). The song's theme is more upbeat than most of the songs on Plastic Ono Band.

Genesis 1976–1982 is a box set of five studio albums by Genesis. It was released on 2 April 2007 in Europe & Japan by Virgin/EMI and on 15 May 2007 in North America by Atlantic/Rhino. The 6-CD/6-DVD box set includes newly remixed versions of the albums A Trick of the Tail, Wind & Wuthering, ...And Then There Were Three..., Duke, and Abacab. The sixth pair of discs includes B-side songs.

Genesis 1970–1975 is a box set of five studio albums by Genesis featuring Peter Gabriel. It was released on 10 November 2008 in Europe by EMI and on 11 November 2008 in North America by Atlantic/Rhino. The 7-CD/6-DVD box set includes newly remixed versions of the albums Trespass, Nursery Cryme, Foxtrot, Selling England by the Pound and The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway. The band's 1969 debut album, From Genesis to Revelation, was excluded because of the band losing the rights to it. The fifth pair of discs includes B-side songs, 3 rare songs from BBC Sessions in 1970 and the never-before-released Genesis Plays Jackson soundtrack. Each bonus DVD features audio versions of the albums in 5.1 surround sound, as well as videos from each album's corresponding tour, new interviews, and photo galleries. The European version includes CD/SACD Hybrids instead of standard CDs. EMI also released a limited edition six disc vinyl box set containing the original albums only on 24 November 2008.
Living in the Past is a double LP compilation album by Jethro Tull, released in 1972. It collects album tracks, outtakes and several standalone singles spanning the band's career up to that point. Also included are the 1971 "Life Is a Long Song" EP and two live recordings taken from a performance at New York City's Carnegie Hall in November 1970.

Hacia lo salvaje is the sixth studio album by the Spanish band Amaral. The songs were recorded in the duo's Madrid studio by Eva Amaral and Juan Aguirre, with the participation of Toni Toledo and Chris Taylor. The production was undertaken by Juan de Dios Martín, Eva Amaral and Juan Aguirre. Antonio Escobar was the synthesizer programmer. The album was mixed and mastered in New York by Michael Brauer in Electric Lady and Greg Calbi in Sterling Sound. It was the first album published under the new label created by the duo, Antártida, which was named after the song that the band were currently working on when they realised that they had not yet given their new label a name. Acoustic versions of all the songs were also recorded and released as bonus material
Layers of Love United is the third album from Norton. It was the band's first record with Pedro Afonso on lead vocals.
