On May 18, 2009, Filipino pop singer Jake Zyrus performed it on The Oprah Winfrey Show . The song recording produced by David Foster, was performed prior to Zyrus's gender transition. It served as the first North American single for his album, Charice . It was only released as a digital download but it charted in the US and Canada due to high digital sales.
Multiple Grammy Award-winner Diane Warren confirmed on The Oprah Winfrey Show that she immediately knew the song "Note to God" was perfect for Zyrus the moment she heard the young singer's voice. This emotionally packed song, which brought the studio audience to their feet and Oprah Winfrey to tears on The Oprah Winfrey Show, was accompanied by an orchestra, David Foster and the Western Michigan University's vocal jazz ensemble, Gold Company when it debuted on the show. [4]
Zyrus launched his debut single "Note to God", also credited under his former name Charice, with a performance on The Oprah Winfrey Show on May 18, 2009. On the issue date of June 6, 2009, "Note to God" entered the Billboard Hot 100 at number 44, [8] while debuting at number 35 on the Canadian Hot 100. [9] "Note to God" peaked on the Billboard Hot Digital Songs chart at number 24, [10] and the Hot Canadian Digital Singles chart at number 9.

JoJo is the debut studio album by American singer JoJo, released on June 22, 2004, by Da Family Entertainment, Blackground Records, and Universal Records. Incorporating pop and R&B, JoJo was influenced by Ella Fitzgerald, Bobby Brown, and Aretha Franklin. While recording the album over an eight-month period, JoJo worked with producers including Brian Alexander Morgan, Soulshock and Karlin, Mike City, Bink!, Kwamé "K1 Mill" and The Underdogs, among others. My Inspiration is a studio album by Filipino singer Jake Zyrus. It was released on April 3, 2009 and is credited under the name Charice, which Zyrus used prior to his gender transition. It is a concept cover album dedicated to his mother Racquel Pempengco. In addition to nine cover versions, the album features one original song, "Always You", written by the Metropop Song Festival and Awit Award-winning songwriter Jonathan Manalo. The album has been certified platinum. Like his previous release, the album was also made available for digital download through Amazon MP3 on June 23, 2009. Some package versions include a second CD, which features a karaoke version of every song.

The song was released on June 12, 2011, by Mercury Nashville Records, as a single to accompany the documentary television series Why Not? with Shania Twain (2011).
