Steve Leggett of Allmusic believes the fourth installment of the Now That's What I Call Country series proves that contemporary country radio is "filling the void that used to be occupied by classic pop and rock songs." The value of this collection and others in the series is that they zero in on a very specific period of time, "making a little music box of memories for that unique and fleeting moment in time." [2]

American country music artist Patty Loveless has released 16 studio albums, 11 compilation albums, two video albums and 52 singles. Recording a tape of her own music, Loveless signed her first recording contract with MCA Records in 1985. The discography of Rosanne Cash, an American singer-songwriter, consists of 14 studio albums, six compilation albums, and 39 singles. The daughter of Johnny Cash, Rosanne Cash recorded her self-titled debut album in 1978 under the German label Ariola. After signing with Columbia Records in 1979, Cash's second studio album Right or Wrong was released.
