Terengganu, formerly spelled Trengganu or Tringganu, is a sultanate and federal state of Malaysia. The state is also known by its Arabic honorific, Dāru l-Īmān. The coastal city of Kuala Terengganu, which stands at the mouth of the broad Terengganu River, is both the state and royal capital as well as the most populous city in Terengganu. Other major cities and towns includes Jerteh, Kuala Dungun, Chukai, Kuala Berang, Marang, and Permaisuri. At 13,035 square kilometres in size and a population of over 1.2 million people in 2023, Terengganu is Malaysia's 7th largest state by area and 10th largest in population. Terengganu, along with Kelantan, Perlis and the Federal Territory of Putrajaya is one of the most homogeneous states/territories in the country of which 95% of the population are ethnic Malay-Muslims with its own distinct language/dialect, culture, history and tradition.
Kuala Terengganu, colloquially referred to as KT, is the administrative, economic and royal capital of the state of Terengganu, Malaysia. Kuala Terengganu is also the capital of Kuala Terengganu District. It is also the only royal capital among the nine royal states of the country to bear its state's name. Kuala Terengganu is located about 440 kilometres northeast of Kuala Lumpur on the East Coast of Peninsular Malaysia. The city is situated at the estuary of Terengganu River, facing the South China Sea.
The East Coast Expressway is an interstate controlled-access highway running parallel to the northeastern coast of Peninsular Malaysia. The currently operational 433-kilometre (269-mile) segment of the expressway runs through Karak, Pahang and Kuala Nerus, Terengganu.
Jerangau–Jabor Highway, Federal Route 14 is a 179.63-km federal highway running from the city of Kuala Terengganu, Terengganu, Malaysia to Kuantan, Pahang. The highway runs in parallel with the Federal Route 3 - while the FT3 highway is a coastal highway, the Jerangau–Jabor Highway FT14 runs through the interior area instead. Although the distance from Kuala Terengganu to Kuantan via both FT3 and FT14 highways are about the same, the Jerangau–Jabor Highway FT14 significantly shortens the travelling time due to fewer towns being passed. Therefore, the Jerangau–Jabor Highway FT14 became the main route from Pahang to Terengganu before the advent of the East Coast Expressway Phase 2 E8.
Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin is the 18th public institution of higher learning, located in the state of Terengganu, Malaysia. The university is a creature of the Act of Parliament known as the Universities and University Colleges Act 1971, with its constitution laid down under the Universities and University Colleges (Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin) Order 2010. It is the first full-fledged university in the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia and the first university to be based on the “cluster” concept. It is also the first university in Malaysia to be modelled after University of London, United Kingdom.

Terengganu Malay is a Malayic language spoken in the Malaysian state of Terengganu all the way southward to coastal Pahang and northeast Johor. It is the native language of Terengganu Malays and highly localised Chinese Peranakan community as well as a second language among the smaller Indian minority. The language has developed a distinct phonetic, syntactic and lexical distinctions which makes it mutually unintelligible for speakers from outside the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia especially those who speak Standard Malay/Malaysian. Terengganu Malay still shares close linguistic ties with neighbouring Kelantan-Pattani and Pahang of which it forms under the umbrella term of "East Coast Peninsular Malayic languages". These similarities have often confused many people outside the region, who usually interchange Terengganu Malay with Kelantan Malay, even though there are major phonological and vocabulary differences between the two.

Kuala Nerus is a district in Terengganu, Malaysia. It is the youngest district in the state, having been declared a separate district in 2014. Formerly it was part of Kuala Terengganu district but the district is still governed by Kuala Terengganu City Council (MBKT) which is one of few city councils in Malaysia to govern two separate districts. Its capital is Kuala Nerus town, other major towns and villages include Gong Badak, Seberang Takir, Batu Rakit and Batu Enam, all which are located within city limits of Kuala Terengganu. Kuala Nerus' population is 226,177 people as of 2015 which makes it the most populous district in Terengganu. The district has a total land area of 397.52 km2.
Mohamad Ashari bin Samsudin is a retired Malaysian footballer who mainly played as a right winger but could also play as a forward and attacking midfielder. Ashari had great dribbling skill with good vision and pace in the game making him one of the fan's favourites in the team.

Nicknamed "The Turtles", the club was founded as Terengganu Football Association on 22 November 1956, changed its name to Terengganu Football Association in 1972 and Terengganu Football Club in 2018.
Liga Malaysia was an amateur football league in Malaysia that operated from 1982 until 1988. The league was managed by the Football Association of Malaysia. Their jurisdiction covers an area of 605 square kilometres 1928 as Kuala Terengganu Sanitary Board, 1950 as Kuala Terengganu Town Board, 1979 as Kuala Terengganu Municipal Council, 2008 as Kuala Terengganu City Council.
