Nyangatom is one of the woredas in the Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples' Region of Ethiopia. It is named after Nyangatom people who live at this woreda. Part of the Debub Omo Zone, Nyangatom is bordered on the south by Kuraz, on the west by the Ilemi Triangle (claimed by Ethiopia, Kenya and Sudan), on the northwest by the Bench Maji Zone, on the north by Selamago, and on the east by Hamer. The Omo River is flowing along the northern and western border of Nyangatom. Nyangatom was separated from Kuraz woreda.

Demographics

Based on the 2007 Census conducted by the CSA, this woreda has a total population of 17,640, of whom 8,893 are men and 8,747 women; none of its population are urban dwellers. The majority of the inhabitants practiced traditional beliefs, with 58.95% of the population reporting that belief, 32.96% were Protestants, and 1.22 practiced Ethiopian Orthodox Christianity. [1]

The Omo River is flowing through Kuraz to Lake Turkana at the border of Kenya. The administrative center of this woreda is Omorate. Nyangatom woreda was separated from Kuraz.

Kemba is one of the woredas in the Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples' Region of Ethiopia. Part of the Gamo Gofa Zone, Kemba is bordered on the southwest by the Debub Omo Zone, on the west by Uba Debretsehay, on the northwest by Zala, on the northeast by Deramalo, on the east by Bonke, and on the southeast by the Dirashe special woreda; the Weito River defines the boundary with Bonke and Dirashe. The major town in this woreda is Kemba.

Selamago is a woreda in the Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples' Region of Ethiopia. Part of the Debub Omo Zone, Selamago is bordered on the south by Nyangatom, on the west and north by the Omo River which separates it from the Bench Maji, Keffa and Konta, on the northeast by the Gamo Gofa, on the east by the Basketo and Bako Gazer, and on the southeast by the Usno River which separates it from Bena Tsemay; the Mago River defines part of the boundary with Bako Gazer. The administrative center of Selamago is Hana.

Hamer is a woreda in Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples' Region, Ethiopia. It is named after Hamer people who live in this woreda. Part of the Debub Omo Zone, Hamer is bordered to the south by Dasenech woreda, to the southwest by Kuraz, to the west by Nyangatom, to the north by Bena Tsemay, and to the east by the Oromia Region; the Weito River separates it from the Oromia Region. Hamer includes part of Lake Chew Bahir along its southeastern border. The administrative center is Dimeka; other towns include Turmi. Hamer was part of former Hamer Bena woreda. They wore the nations namely Hamer(dominant), Kara, and Arbore nations live together with respecting each other with tolerance.

Bako Gazer is one of the woredas in the Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples' Region of Ethiopia. It is also called Southern Aari as it is part of the homeland of Aari people. Part of the Debub Omo Zone, Bako Gazer is bordered on the south by Bena Tsemay, on the west by the Mago River which separates it from Selamago, on the north by the Basketo special woreda and Gelila, on the northeast by the Gamo Gofa Zone, and on the east by Male. The administrative center of this woreda is Jinka; other towns in Bako Gazer include Tolta and Wub Hamer. Gelila and Male woredas were separated from Bako Gazer.

Suri is a woreda in West Omo Zone, in the South West Ethiopia Peoples' Region of Ethiopia. It is named for the Surma or Suri people, whose homeland lies largely in this woreda. Suri woreda is bordered on the south and west by South Sudan, on the northwest by the Gambela Region, on the north by Bero, and on the east by Maji. A portion of the Omo National Park extends into the southern part of this woreda.

Maji is a woreda in South West Ethiopia Peoples' Region, Ethiopia. Part of the West Omo zone, Maji is bordered on the south by the Kibish River which separates it from South Sudan, on the west by Surma, on the northwest by Bero, on the north by Meinit Shasha, and on the east by the Omo River which separates it from the Debub Omo Zone. Towns in Maji include Tum and Maji. The western part of Maji was separated to create Bero woreda and some southern kebeles were added to Nyangatom woreda.

Melokoza is one of the woredas in the Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples' Region of Ethiopia. Part of the Gamo Gofa Zone, Melokoza is bordered on the south by Basketo special woreda, on the southwest by the Debub (South) Omo Zone, on the northwest by the Konta special woreda, on the north by the Dawro Zone, and on the east by Demba Gofa and Geze Gofa; the Omo River defines its northwestern boundary separating the woreda from Konta and the Dawro Zone. The major town in Melokoza is Leha.

Tembaro Special Woreda is one of the woredas in the Central Ethiopia Regional State of Ethiopia. This woreda is named after the inhabiting Tembaro people. Tembaro is bordered on the south by the Dawro Zone, on the north by the Hadiya Zone, on the west Hadiya and Dawro on the east by Hadero Tunto, and on the southeast by the Wolayita Zone. Towns in Tembaro include Mudula, Keleta, Ambukuna and Hodo. Tembaro Special Woreda was also formerly called Omo Sheleko woreda. Tembaro Special Woreda become special woreda during the reformation of the former Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples' Region into the new Central Ethiopia Regional State in 19 August 2023. This day is the historical day for Tembaro People.

Gelila is one of the woredas in the Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples' Region of Ethiopia. It is also called Northern Aari as it is part of the homeland of Aari people. Part of the Debub Omo Zone, Gelila is bordered on the south by Bako Gazer, on the north by the Basketo special woreda, and on the east by the Gamo Gofa Zone. Gelila was separated from Bako Gazer woreda.

Hamer Bena was one of the 77 woredas in the Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples' Region of Ethiopia. Part of the Debub Omo Zone, Hamer Bena was bordered on the south by Kenya, on the southwest by Kuraz, on the northwest by the Usno River which separates it from Selamago, on the north by Bako Gazer, on the northeast by the Konso special woreda, and on the east by the Oromia Region; the Weito River separated it from Konso and the Oromia Region and the Neri River defined part of the boundary with Bako Gazer. Hamer Bena included part of Lake Chew Bahir along its southeastern border. The administrative center was Dimeka; other towns in Hamer Bena included Arbore, Key Afer, and Turmi. Hamer Bena was separated for Hamer and Bena Tsemay woredas.

Maale is one of the woredas in the Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples' Region of Ethiopia. It is named after the Maale people who are living at this woreda. Part of the Debub Omo Zone, Male is bordered on the south by Bena Tsemay, on the west by Bako Gazer, on the north by the Basketo special woreda and Gelila, on the north and east by the Gamo Gofa Zone, and the southeast by Dirashe special woreda. The male was separated from Bako Gazer woreda.

Uba Debretsehay is one of the woredas in the Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples' Region of Ethiopia. Part of the Gamo Gofa Zone, Uba Debretsehay is bordered on the south and west by the Debub Omo Zone, on the north by Oyda and Demba Gofa, on the northeast by Zala, and on the east by Kemba. Towns in Uba Debretsehay include Beto. Uba Debretsehay was part of former Zala Ubamale woreda.

Oyda is one of the woredas in the Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples' Region of Ethiopia. It is named after Oyda people living in this woreda. Part of the Gamo Gofa Zone, Oyda is bordered on the south by Uba Debretsehay, on the west by the Debub Omo Zone, on the north by Geze Gofa, and on the northeast by Demba Gofa. Oyda was part of former Gofa Zuria woreda.

Meinit Shasha is one of the woredas in the South West Ethiopia Peoples' Region of Ethiopia. Part of the Bench Maji Zone, Meinit Shasha is bordered on the south by Maji, on the southwest by Bero, on the west by Guraferda, on the north by Debub Bench and Meinit Goldiya, on the east by the Keffa Zone, and on the southeast by the Omo River which separates it from the Debub Omo Zone. Part of the Dawro Zone, Isara is bordered on the south by the Omo River which separates this woreda from the Gamo Gofa Zone, on the west by the Konta special woreda, on the north by the Tocha, on the northeast by Mareka, and on the east by Loma Bosa. Towns in Isara include Bale. Isara was part of former Isara Tocha woreda.

Gena is one of the woredas in the South West Ethiopia Peoples' Region of Ethiopia. Part of the Dawro Zone, Gena Bosa is bordered on the south by Loma, on the west by Mareka, on the north by the Gojeb River which separates it from the Oromia Region, on the northeast by the Hadiya Zone and Kembata Tembaro Zone, and on the east by the Wolayita Zone. The eastern and northeastern border of Gena Bosa is marked by the Omo River. Towns in Gena Bosa include Weldehane. Gena Bosa was formed of parts of former Loma Bosa and Mareka Gena woredas.

Loma is one of the woredas in the South West Ethiopia Peoples' Region of Ethiopia. Part of the Dawro Zone, Loma is bordered on the south by the Gamo Gofa Zone, on the west by Isara, on the northwest by Mareka, on the north by Gena Bosa, and on the east by the Wolayita Zone. The eastern and southern border of Loma is marked by the Omo River. Towns in Loma include Loma Bale. Loma was part of former Loma Bosa woreda.
