Nye Islands ( 66°10′S110°25′E / 66.167°S 110.417°E ) are two small islands lying between Midgley Island and Pidgeon Island, in the Windmill Islands. The two islands were photographed by U.S. Navy Operation Highjump (1946–47) and U.S. Navy Operation Windmill (1947–48).Though rather clearly shown in the photography, they were not shown on the resulting charts. Named by the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names (US-ACAN) for Harvey M. Nye, meteorological electronics technician at Wilkes Station in 1959.

Vanderford Glacier is a glacier about 8 km (5 mi) wide flowing northwest into the southeast side of Vincennes Bay, slightly south of the Windmill Islands. It was named by the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names (US-ACAN) for Benjamin Vanderford, pilot of the sloop of war Vincennes of the United States Exploring Expedition under Captain Wilkes, 1838–42. The glacier was mapped from aerial photographs taken by U.S. Navy Operation Highjump, 1946–47.
Wilson Island is a mainly ice-free island lying between Browning Peninsula and Bosner Island in the Windmill Islands. First mapped from air photos taken by U.S. Navy Operation Highjump and Operation Windmill in 1947 and 1948. Named by the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names (US-ACAN) for W. Stanley Wilson, biologist and member of the Wilkes Station party of 1961.
Zimmerman Island is a mainly ice-free island 0.4 miles (0.6 km) southeast of Werlein Island in the Windmill Islands. First mapped from air photos taken by U.S. Navy Operation Highjump and Operation Windmill in 1947 and 1948. Named by the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names (US-ACAN) for John R. Zimmerman, meteorologist and member of the Wilkes Station party of 1958.
Browning Peninsula is a rocky peninsula, 4 miles (6.4 km) long, separating Penney Bay and Eyres Bay at the south end of the Windmill Islands. It was first mapped from air photos taken by U.S. Navy Operation Highjump and Operation Windmill in 1947 and 1948. It was named by the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names for Commander Charles L. Browning, U.S. Navy, chief staff officer with Operation Windmill and later staff officer with Task Force 43, the logistic arm of U.S. Navy Operation Deep Freeze, 1955–56.
The Gillies Islands are three small, rocky islands protruding above Shackleton Ice Shelf 3 nautical miles (6 km) north of Cape Moyes.
Peterson Glacier is a glacier flowing west into Penney Bay opposite Herring Island in the Windmill Islands. Mapped from aerial photographs taken by U.S. Navy (USN) OpHjp, 1946–47, and named for Louie N. Peterson, radio operator and recorder with the U.S. Navy (USN) OpWml parties which established astronomical control stations along Wilhelm II, Knox and Budd Coasts during January–February 1948.
Williams Nunatak is a small coastal nunatak just east of the Windmill Islands, standing at the south side of the terminus of Peterson Glacier where it faces on Penney Bay. First mapped from air photos taken by U.S. Navy Operation Highjump in February 1947. Named by the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names (US-ACAN) for Calvin E. Williams, member of one of the two U.S. Navy Operation Windmill photographic units which obtained ground and aerial photographic coverage of this area in January 1948.
The Alexander Nunataks are two coastal nunataks at the southern limit of the Windmill Islands, standing on the shore of Penney Bay 0.4 nautical miles (0.7 km) east of the base of the Browning Peninsula. They were first mapped from air photos taken by U.S. Navy Operation Highjump and Operation Windmill in 1947 and 1948, and named by the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names for Photographer's Mate H.N. Alexander, a member of one of the two Operation Windmill photographic units that obtained air and ground photos of the area in January 1948.
Apfel Glacier is a glacier about 5 nautical miles (10 km) wide and 20 nautical miles (40 km) long, flowing west-northwest along the south flank of the Bunger Hills and terminating in Edisto Ice Tongue. It was mapped from air photos taken by U.S. Navy Operation Highjump, 1946–47, and named by the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names for Earl T. Apfel, professor of geology at Syracuse University, who served as geologist with the U.S. Navy Operation Windmill parties, 1947–48, which established astronomical control stations along Queen Mary, Knox and Budd Coasts.
Bigelow Rock is a low, ice-covered rock about 150 feet (50 m) long, with numerous rock exposures close above sea level, lying immediately west of Shackleton Ice Shelf, about 25 nautical miles (50 km) northeast of Junction Corner. It was delineated from aerial photographs taken by U.S. Navy Operation Highjump (OpHjp), 1946–47. An astronomical control station was established on the rock by U.S. Navy Operation Windmill (OpWml), 1947–48. It was named by the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names for Technical Sergeant George H. Bigelow, United States Marine Corps, a tractor driver-mechanic with OpHjp and OpWml.
Niles Island is a rocky island, 0.2 nautical miles (0.4 km) long, lying close off the south end of Holl Island in the Windmill Islands. First mapped from air photos taken by U.S. Navy Operation Highjump and Operation Windmill in 1947 and 1948. Named by the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names (US-ACAN) for G.W. Niles, a member of the U.S. Navy Operation Highjump and U.S. Navy Operation Windmill photographic units which photographed the area in February 1947 and January 1948, respectively.
Warrington Island is a rocky island, 0.7 nautical miles (1.3 km) long, lying immediately south of Pidgeon Island in the Windmill Islands. First mapped from aerial photographs taken by U.S. Navy Operation Highjump, 1946–47. Named by Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names (US-ACAN) for W.H. Warrington, photographer's mate on U.S. Navy Operation Highjump flights in this and other coastal areas between 14 and 164 East longitude.
Werlein Island is a rocky island 0.8 nautical miles (1.5 km) long, lying 0.2 nautical miles (0.4 km) southeast of Holl Island in the Windmill Islands. First mapped from air photos taken by U.S. Navy Operation Highjump in February 1947. Named by the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names (US-ACAN) for Ens. Richard O. Werlein, U.S. Navy, assistant hydrographic officer with U.S. Navy Operation Windmill which established astronomical control stations in the area in January 1948.
Motherway Island is a small rocky island about 0.2 nautical miles (0.4 km) north of Peterson Island, near the south end of the Windmill Islands of Antarctica. It was first mapped from aerial photographs taken by U.S. Navy Operation Highjump in February 1947, and was named by the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names for Paul T. Motherway, a member of one of the two Operation Windmill photographic units which obtained aerial and ground photographic coverage of this area in January 1948.
Midgley Island is a rocky island, 0.8 nautical miles (1.5 km) long, lying immediately south of Hollin Island in the Windmill Islands of Antarctica. It was first mapped from air photos taken by U.S. Navy Operation Highjump and Operation Windmill in 1947 and 1948. The island was named by the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names for Lieutenant E.W. Midgley, an Army Medical Corps observer who assisted Operation Windmill parties in establishing astronomical control stations between Wilhelm II Coast and Budd Coast during the 1947–48 season.
McGrady Cove is a cove at the head of Newcomb Bay in the Windmill Islands of Antarctica. It was first mapped from air photos taken by U.S. Navy Operation Highjump and Operation Windmill in 1947 and 1948, and was named by the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names for Chief Photographer's Mate E.D. McGrady, U.S. Navy, who participated in the flights of Operation Highjump over the Windmill Islands in 1947.
Spano Island is a small rocky island 0.5 nautical miles (0.9 km) north of the west end of Herring Island, in the Windmill Islands. First mapped from air photos taken by U.S. Navy Operation Highjump and Operation Windmill in 1947 and 1948. Named by the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names (US-ACAN) for Angelo F. Spano, meteorologist and member of the Wilkes Station party of 1960.
Taylor Islands is a group of rocky islands and rocks in Antarctica, lying at the west side of Edisto Ice Tongue and marking the west end of the Highjump Archipelago. Delineated from aerial photographs taken by U.S. Navy Operation Highjump, 1946–47, and named for Richard Spence Taylor, who served as surveyor with the U.S. Navy Operation Windmill parties which established astronomical control stations from Wilhelm II Coast to Budd Coast in January–February 1948.
Teigan Island is a rocky island, 0.2 nautical miles (0.4 km) long, lying 0.1 nautical miles (0.2 km) northeast of Bosner Island, near the south end of the Windmill Islands. First mapped from aerial photographs taken by U.S. Navy Operation Highjump in February 1947. Named by the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names (US-ACAN) for B. Teigan, who served as air crewman with the central task group of U.S. Navy Operation Highjump, 1946–47, and also with U.S. Navy Operation Windmill which obtained aerial and ground photographic coverage of the Windmill Islands in January 1948.
The Davis Islands are a small group of rocky islands lying in the west part of the entrance to Vincennes Bay. First mapped (1955) by G.D. Blodgett from aerial photographs taken by U.S. Navy Operation Highjump (1947). Named by Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names (US-ACAN) for Malcolm Davis, bird curator of the zoo, Washington, DC, who served as biologist aboard the ship as ornithologist during U.S. Navy Operation Windmill (1947-48).
