OYSS Women is a non-profit organization engaged in empowering women in India. It was founded in 1987 by women's rights activist Manasi Pradhan. [1] [2] [3]
The organization undertakes activities in the field of women education, vocational training, leadership development, women's rights enforcement, self-defense training and legal awareness to empower women. [4] [5]
OYSS Women Model UN is a national-level conference of university and college students. The conference sits in different formations i.e. General Assembly, Security Council, UN Secretariat and Press & Publicity division. [6] Participants debate contemporary women issues and are awarded gold, silver, or bronze medals based on their performance. [7]
Some of the periodic events organized by OYSS Women includes Nirbhaya Samaroh, Women Leadership Conclave, National Meet on Rural Women Empowerment, National Meet on Ending Violence against women, National Meet on Liquor Trade & Gender Violence and women's rights festival. [8] [1] [9]
Odisha University of Technology and Research (OUTR) formerly College of Engineering and Technology, Bhubaneswar (CETB) is a public unitary technical university under the state government of Odisha located in Bhubaneswar, the capital of Odisha, India. It was established in 1981, by Government of Orissa, as a constituent college of Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology. Gopal Ballav Pattanaik is an Indian lawyer and later a jurist who served over a period of 19 years in the bench of the Odisha High Court as a permanent judge, as chief justice of the Patna High Court, Judge of the Supreme Court of India and as the 32nd Chief Justice of India.
Capital High School, located in Bhubaneswar, is one of the oldest schools in the Indian state of Odisha and was established in 1951. The school is situated in unit-III near Ram Mandir and is adjacent to St. Joseph's High School and The Blind School. It is affiliated to the Board of Secondary Education, Odisha under State Government of Odisha. Ganesh Chandra Mishra was the first headmaster of the school and he took charge on 16 July 1951. Before this he was associated with Odisha TV as an input and investigative editor. During his stay at OTV, his special show- the first Odia popular food programme Tasty Tasty was a huge success. This show not only popularized the food culture of the state, but encouraged the state government to induct Tripathy in the Odisha Rasagola research committee. After leaving Odisha Television, Bhakta Tripathy joined as the Editor, Current Affairs in Focus Odisha TV which later turned to News World Odisha TV. Here also Bhakta Tripathy designed and produced a special foodie programme named Pujara Swada and Nuakhai.
Manasi Pradhan is an Indian women's rights activist and author. She is the founder of Honour for Women National Campaign, a nationwide movement to end violence against women in India. In 2014, she was conferred with Rani Laskhmibai Stree Shakti Puraskar by the President of India. Along with Mary Prema Pierick, global head of the Missionaries of Charity, she won the 'Outstanding Women Award' in 2011.
Ganesh Chandra Jena is a mountaineer from Odisha, India. He reached the peak of Mount Everest on 18 May 2011 as the first male from the eastern state of Orissa. Two other Indians in his team were Amit Kumar from Haryana and Jackie Jack from Rajasthan. The team was headed by Anshu Jamsenpa, 32. After Kalpana Dash, Ganesh Jena achieved this feat as the second Oriya and the first male person from Odisha "Willpower, patience and determination hold the key to success. My target is to scale the Everest twice in one season," he said to media persons after his successful Everest mission.
