The Oak Creek Parkway is an urban park strung along Oak Creek and other parts of South Milwaukee, Wisconsin. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2011. [1] The Oak Leaf Trail spans 135 miles and connects with the parkway at several points. [2] [3] [4]
Milwaukee landscape architect Alfred Boerner roughed out plans for the parkway in 1923, but nothing was built until 1930, when federal relief programs made resources available. The parkway was partially built by the Civilian Conservation Corps and the Works Progress Administration of the New Deal. [5]
Rock Creek Park is a large urban park and bisects the Northwest quadrant of Washington, D.C. The park was created by an Act of Congress in 1890 and today is administered by the National Park Service. In addition to the park proper, which generally follows the Potomac River tributary of Rock Creek, the Rock Creek administrative unit of the National Park Service administers various other federally owned properties in the District of Columbia located to the north and west of the National Mall, including Meridian Hill Park on 16th Street, N.W., the Old Stone House in Georgetown, and certain of the Fort Circle Parks, a series of batteries and forts encircling the District of Columbia for its defense during the U.S. Civil War.

Greendale is located southwest of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and is a part of the Milwaukee metropolitan area. A planned community, it was established by the United States government during the Great Depression.

The Hank Aaron State Trail is a 15.2-mile (24.5 km) rail trail in Milwaukee County, Wisconsin. The trail is named after former Milwaukee Braves and Milwaukee Brewers right fielder Hank Aaron and is built on a former roadbed of the Milwaukee Road. As of 2023, according to the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, approximately 200,000 people use the trail annually.
The Bonnie Oaks Historic District is located in Briggsville, Wisconsin in the Town of Douglas. The district was added to the National Register of Historic Places on April 3, 1986.
