The Lansing Pharaohs are an American professional basketball team based out of Lansing, Michigan, and a member of The Basketball League (TBL).

History

It was announced that Lansing, Michigan would be awarded a franchise for the upcoming 2022 TBL season. [1] [2] The team is owned by entrepreneur Chris Jackson. Scott Newman was announced as the team's head coach. Previously he served as the assistant coach of Windsor Express. [3]

On November 6, 2022 the team announced it would move to Oakland County, Michigan, sit out 2023 and be renamed as the Oakland County Pharaohs in 2024. [4]

James Patrick Brandstatter is an American sports announcer. He was the radio play-by-play announcer for the Michigan Wolverines football team. He held the position of color commentator for the Detroit Lions for 31 years until the end of the 2017 season. Brandstatter is also a sports television show host and former radio show host; both TV and radio shows about Michigan football. He played college football for the Wolverines, from 1969 to 1972, where he was a standout offensive tackle. Brandstatter has written two non-fiction books about UM experiences, both of which were best-sellers in the sports category. The 2022 TBL season is the fifth season of The Basketball League (TBL). The league expanded from 29 teams in the 2021 season to 44. For the 2022 season, the National Basketball League of Canada (NBLC) announced that they had agreed to inter-league series play with several teams from The Basketball League. The games played between the teams from the two leagues are included in their respective regular season standings for each league.
