Odyssey Airlines is a British startup airline headquartered in London with a planned base at London City Airport. It was founded in 2010 and is preparing to launch operations in late 2020 / early 2021.
The airline incorporated in September 2010 and is headquartered at a business property at Spital Square in London. The airline was first revealed in an article by Reuters in December 2011, citing it as being one of the undisclosed customers of the Bombardier CSeries aircraft, now the Airbus A220-100. [1] During the 2013 Paris Air Show, Bombardier and Odyssey officially revealed the identity of the airline to the public, with an original launch year stated as 2016. [2]
In April 2014, it started to raise $5 million through crowdfunding. [3] Since 2016, the launch date has been pushed back several times. [4]
Odyssey Airlines plans to operate as a premium carrier, offering an all-business class service onboard its aircraft. [5] The planned service from London-City to New York was previously operated in a similar way by British Airways on board an Airbus A318-100 in all-business class configuration.
The airline plans to be based at London City Airport and will serve mainly medium and long haul destinations, [6] such as New York City and Toronto. A detailed plan of further future destinations has not been revealed yet. [6]

London City Airport is an international airport in London, England. The Bombardier CRJ or CRJ Series is a family of regional jets introduced in 1991 by Bombardier Aerospace. The CRJ was formerly manufactured by Bombardier Aerospace with the manufacturing of the first CRJ generation, the CRJ100/200 and the second CRJ generation, the CRJ700 series. The CRJ programme was acquired by Japanese corporation Mitsubishi Heavy Industries in a deal that closed 1 June 2020. Bombardier subsequently completed assembly of the order backlog on behalf of Mitsubishi.
The Airbus A220 is a family of five-abreast narrow-body airliners by Airbus Canada Limited Partnership (ACLP). It was originally developed by Bombardier and had two years in service as the Bombardier CSeries. The program was launched on 13 July 2008, the smaller A220-100 made its maiden flight on 16 September 2013, was awarded an initial type certificate by Transport Canada on 18 December 2015, and entered service on 15 July 2016 with launch operator Swiss Global Air Lines. The longer A220-300 first flew on 27 February 2015, received an initial type certificate on 11 July 2016, and entered service with airBaltic on 14 December 2016.

The Airbus U.S. Manufacturing Facility is an assembly site for Airbus's Commercial Airplanes division, located at the Mobile Aeroplex at Brookley in Mobile, Alabama, United States. The plant is an assembly and delivery site for Airbus commercial aircraft in the United States and one of the largest employment centers in the state. The site is one of four final assembly and delivery points for the Airbus A320neo family and one of two final assembly and delivery points for the Airbus A220.
On 28 April 2016, Bombardier Aerospace recorded a firm order from Delta Air Lines for 75 CSeries CS100s plus 50 options. On 27 April 2017, Boeing filed a petition for dumping them at $19.6m each, below their $33.2m production cost. On the same day, Bombardier and the Canadian Federal Government rejected the claim, vowing to mount a "vigorous defence".
