Paul Verhoeven is a Dutch film director. His films are known for their graphic violence and sexual content, combined with social satire. After receiving attention for the TV series Floris in his native Netherlands, Verhoeven's breakthrough film was the romantic drama Turkish Delight (1973), starring frequent collaborator Rutger Hauer. Verhoeven later directed successful Dutch films including the period drama Keetje Tippel (1975), the war film Soldier of Orange (1977), the teen drama Spetters (1980) and the psychological thriller The Fourth Man (1983).
Carice Anouk van Houten is a Dutch actress. Her first leading role in the television film Suzy Q (1999) won her the Golden Calf for Best Acting in a Television Drama; two years later, she won the Golden Calf for Best Actress for Miss Minoes (2001).
The Golden Film is a film award recognizing domestic box office achievements in the Netherlands. The Golden Film is awarded to films from the Netherlands once they have sold 100,000 tickets. The award is an initiative by the Netherlands Film Festival and the Netherlands Film Fund to increase media attention for Dutch films. For each awarded film there is one trophy for the film crew and another for the film cast.

The Diamond Film is awarded to films from the Netherlands once they have sold 1,000,000 cinema tickets or more during the original circulation. The award is initiated by the Netherlands Film Festival and the Netherlands Film Fund in addition to the Golden Film for 100,000 visitors, the Platinum Film for 400,000 visitors, and the Crystal Film for 10,000 visitors of a documentary film.

The Gouden Ganzenveer is a Dutch cultural award initiated in 1955, given annually to a person or organization of great significance to the written and printed word. Recipients are selected by an academy of people from the cultural, political, scientific, and corporate world. Members meet once a year; the winner is announced each year in January and honored in April. From 1995 to 1998 the award was granted by the Koninklijke Nederlandse Uitgeversbond, the Royal Dutch Organization of Publishers; since 2000, it is granted by a separate organization.
Loeki de Leeuw is a Dutch stop-motion TV animation, broadcast on Dutch public television between 1972 and 2004, with revivals in 2019 and again since 2021. It features a puppet lion in short sketches usually not longer than five seconds, which appeared as bumpers between commercial breaks. These animated shorts reached iconic status in the Netherlands, but were also broadcast in other countries including France, the United Kingdom, Austria, Italy, Japan and the United States.

Bon Bini: Judeska in da House is a 2020 Dutch comedy film produced by Maarten Swart and directed by Jonathan Herman. It stars Jandino Asporaat, as the character Judeska from the films Bon Bini Holland and Bon Bini Holland 2. Jandino originally wanted to make Bon Bini Holland 3 but after the COVID-19 pandemic happened, he instead decided to make a lower budget spin-off film in which one of his characters is forced to go into lockdown. The film premiered in Dutch theaters nationwide on December 10, 2020. It was the first Dutch film, after movie theatres reopened, to receive the Golden Film recognition for more than 100,000 visitors.

The film won the Golden Film award after having sold 100,000 tickets. It was the first Golden Film award of 2024. In total, just over 240,000 tickets were sold in 2023 and 2024.

It was chosen as the Dutch entry for the Best International Feature Film at the 97th Academy Awards. The film won two Golden Calf awards for best feature film and best leading role for Leny Breederveld. The winners were announced at the Netherlands Film Festival.
