In 2004, there were 16 award categories, mainly because in 2003 the categories Best Photography, Best Montage, Best Music, Best Production Design, Best Sound Design were added.

The Little Blonde, Dead is a 1993 Dutch film directed by Jean van de Velde. It was based on a book of Boudewijn Büch. The film was selected as the Dutch entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 66th Academy Awards, but was not accepted as a nominee. It also won the Golden Calf by Best Feature Film.

The story, laced with magic realism, follows headstrong 11-year-old girl Kenza who is determined to find her own path into adulthood, as she mourns her mom. Memory Lane is a 2024 comedy-drama film written by Marijn de Wit and co-written and directed by Jelle de Jonge. The film was a big box office hit in The Netherlands and was awarded the Golden Film. It was chosen as the Dutch entry for the Best International Feature Film at the 97th Academy Awards. The film won two Golden Calf awards for best feature film and best leading role for Leny Breederveld. The winners where announced at the Netherlands Film Festival.
