Ojass is the annual techno-management fest of NIT Jamshedpur. [1] Started in the year 2004, Ojass strives to foster and boost cogent engineering practices in the nation providing a zealous platform to display one's technical prowess.

Contents

Ojass assembles a wide range of events comprising every genre of engineering, management, and even filmmaking with the aim to stimulate the future generation to dream big. [2] Certified Workshops in the field of robotics are conducted every year before the fest to help students understand the different technology trends in the market. [3] A three-day spectacle, Ojass also organizes many motivating guest lectures under the event cluster "Guru Gyan". [2] [4] Ojass 2015 was held from 3 April to 5 April 2015. Ojass 2016 was held from 11 March to 13 March 2016. Since its inception, Ojass has been receiving immense participation from the student community from all over India.

History and Growth

Initiated in the year 2004, It was celebrated as Pravah until 2007 when it got its present name Ojass, meaning "vigour". [5] Since then, the fest has grown exponentially attracting students from all corners of the country especially from the eastern corridor. The 2014 edition saw healthy participation, participants taking part in a variety of events. [2]

Flagship Events

NSCET: A Tata Cummins sponsored technical paper presentation.

Codemania: A CodeChef sponsored and certified coding event.

No Ground Zone: A remote-control plane event where the plane should perform certain maneuvers. Prize money for this event is worth up to Rs 80,000.

Netkraft: An event on networking basics and trends with prize money worth up to Rs 12,000.

Bizzathlon 2.0: A business quiz conducted by the renowned Quiz master Barry O'Brien.

Guru Gyan: Inspiring guest lectures by famous personalities from all over the country.

Director's Cut: A film-making adobe where the future filmmakers of the country showcase their skills.

The Great Ojass Race: A treasure-hunt event where the participants' race through the campus in search of clues leading to the next checkpoint.

Autobots: Design a robot capable of traversing through the arena detecting and following the designated path. The total prize money for this event is Rs 25000.

Game Of Troves: A Game which takes participants beyond Google in search of clues. In-game participants have to submit words related to a given image, text, or audio

Every year Ojass invites renowned personalities to share their experience and valuable insights. The Guests for Ojass 2014 include:

Mandira Bedi : An Indian actress, television presenter and sports commentator. [5]

Ravinder Singh : A celebrated Indian author. [5]

Narasimha Karumanchi: An educationist and a self-publishing author of books on Datastructures and Algorithms. [5]

Workshops

Ojass conducts workshops as a prologue to the various events in the different event clusters in the fest. This helps the students to understand the status quo and the future advancements possible in a particular field. [6] Especially, workshops on the several robotics events in the Deus-x-machina event cluster attract huge participation from the students of the locality. [3] These workshops allow the students to know the nitty-gritty of the robotics domain. Students also get a chance to bag internship offers from renowned organizations. [3]

Pragyan, NIT Trichy is the annual techno-managerial festival of the National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli. Since its inception in 2005, it has been held every year over a period of three and a half days during the months of January, February, or March. Festember is a cultural festival organised at National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli (NITT). It is a 4-day event held annually in the third week of September. It was first incepted in 1975 by then students of NITT, and has now evolved to be one of the largest cultural festivals organised by a student community in Southern India. With humble beginnings as a fest with zero rupee budget allocation, it grew rapidly with sponsorships and collaborations. It now boasts an annual participation of more than 15,000 students from over 500 collegiate student communities across India.

Incident is the annual cultural festival of the National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK) in Surathkal, Karnataka, India. The fest is a four-day-long event held in March in the even semester of the NITK Calendar. SpringSpree, sometimes written as Spring Spree and popularly known as Spree, is the annual cultural festival of the National Institute of Technology, Warangal. Soon to be in its 29th edition this cultural fest has the distinction of being one among the largest cultural fests of South India. With a footfall of around 10,000 and participation of around 600 colleges and increasing this fest has come a long way from its humble inception in 1978. Spring Spree today has an impressive array of events to cater to every possible personality. It covers every possible genre in music, dance, literature, art and gaming. Also an important part of this fest today are the workshops on subjects ranging from ethical hacking to the basics of a guitar. Alma Fiesta is the annual socio-cultural festival of the Indian Institute of Technology in Bhubaneswar. It is a three-day-long event usually held during the second week of January every year. The first edition of Alma Fiesta took place in 2010. It was inaugurated by Naveen Patnaik, Chief Minister of Odisha.

Waves is the annual cultural festival of BITS Pilani, K K Birla Goa Campus. It is a three-day-long festival held in the late October – early November period. It is a cultural festival that is held annually to celebrate music, dance and art. It is an inter college festival with students coming in to participate in events and competitions from all over the country.

Wissenaire is the annual techno-management festival of Indian Institute of Technology Bhubaneswar held in the Arugul, permanent campus of IIT Bhubaneswar. It is one of the most awaited technical festival of East India. It is a three-day-long event usually held during the third week of January every year. The word Wissenaire is derived from the German word 'Wissen' meaning knowledge and 'aire' meaning free. Thus it is justified by its tagline knowledge runs free. Sympulse is an annual international college cultural festival at Symbiosis Centre for Management Studies (SCMS) Pune, founded in 2010. It spreads across a span of five days held in the first quarter of every year. It attracts students from junior, under-graduate and post-graduate colleges as participants. It is an exposure into different categories of talent, for example: Business and Management, Model United Nation Conference, Showcasing artistic ability in cultural extravaganzas, and Sports. These categories have been personalized to suit the fest and the events take place simultaneously over those five days.

Sparsh is the annual cultural festival of the Sardar Vallabhai National Institute of Technology. It usually takes place in the second or third week of february, and is one of the largest of its kind in the western region. This festival consists of mega-attractions, informal events, managerial events and numerous other competitions. The festivities of the day are followed by "Sparsh Nights - the Inaugural Night, Singing Night, Dancing Night, EDM Night and Celebrity Night.

ATMOS is the annual techno-management festival of BITS Pilani, Hyderabad Campus, located in Hyderabad, India. It is known for a wide range of events, such as workshops, quizzes, lectures, technical exhibitions and competitions. Among the notable events conducted annually during it are the national level quiz Enigma and BITS MUN Hyderabad. Started in 2012, ATMOS aims at improving the technical culture among Indian colleges as well as providing a platform to showcase their abilities. In its sixth year now, ATMOS is growing rapidly with participation from students, academicians, entrepreneurs and speakers from all over India.

Techspardha is the annual techno-managerial festival of National Institute of Technology, Kurukshetra. It started in 1995 as "Technospect". The year 2013 marked the Golden Jubilee of NIT Kurukshetra, thus it was renamed as Techspardha. Etymologically, the word ‘Techspardha’ is composed of two words, ‘Tech’ in English is a contraction of technology and ‘Spardha’ in Hindi means competition. Techspardha is known for hosting a variety of events that include competitions, exhibitions, guest lectures as well as workshops.

Technosearch is the Annual Technical Festival of MANIT Bhopal. Since its inception in 2003, Technosearch has done lots of technical and cultural events. The participation for Technosearch has been growing exponentially, easily evident from the footfall of over 15000 in the 2017 installment.
