Omarghani M. E. S. College is a higher secondary and undergraduate educational institution located on Zakir Hossain Road in the Nasirabad area of Chittagong, which was established in 1964. It is widely known as MES College.
The college is bordered by Ispahani Public School and College, to the south and Omargani Primary School to the east. It is located southwest of the Chittagong. The college is also widely discussed for its student politics in Chittagong.
The college offers courses in science, business education, and humanities. There is also the opportunity to study 4-year courses on various subjects at the degree level and undergraduate (honors) level. Every year, about two thousand students from MES College participate in the Higher Secondary Examination. [1]
It was established by the Muslim Education Society. Khan Bahadur Abdul Aziz (1863–1926), a prominent educationist, writer and social worker of the time, formed the Muslim Education Society in Chittagong in 1900. After the establishment of Victoria Hall, Kabiruddin Memorial Library and Free Islamia Reading Room by the Muslim Education Society, MES College was established in 1964, almost 38 years after the death of Khan Bahadur Abdul Aziz. At the time of its establishment, its main goal was to bring the backward Muslim community to the forefront. At the time of its establishment, the college only had the opportunity to teach Muslims, but later it was opened to students of all religions.
The college has a field between the science, business education and humanities buildings. In addition, outside the main college, the field of Omargani Primary School is also identified as the main field of the college.
About 15 subjects are taught here from the faculties of science, business education, arts, and social sciences.
