OnTen (Persian : آنتن) was an award-winning [2] hit [3] [4] satirical news show that tackled domestic and international political and social issues. In a 30-minute weekly show, OnTen explored the headlines and the stories behind the headlines with cutting-edge production techniques, exclusive interviews, and witty analysis.

OnTen was broadcast by satellite into Iran by the Voice of America’s Persian Service, [5] which at the time claimed that it reached 21 percent of Iranians each week. [6]

The show title, a play on words, means antenna in Persian and is also a slang term for "spy."

The show was the intellectual successor to Parazit, which was co-created by OnTen’s executive producer, Saman Arbabi.

The show’s second season was hosted by Iranian underground rock musician Arash Sobhani, who is also the founder and leader of the popular band, Kiosk.

Masih Alinejad, an Iranian journalist known for her ability to get Iranian officials to speak with her [7] reported for the show from London.

Rounding out the cast was Saman Arbabi, who, during the first season also acted as the show's host and The Onion-style fake news anchor. [8] [9]

In an election-day special [10] broadcast on June 14, 2013, OnTen featured a segment on street artist JR's Inside Out Project and aired a special message to the Iranian people from U2's Bono.

Siamak Pourzand was an Iranian journalist and film critic. He was the manager of the Majmue-ye Farhangi-Honari-ye Tehran—a cultural center for writers, artists, and intellectuals—and wrote cultural commentary for several reformist newspapers later shut down by the Iranian government. In 2001, he was imprisoned for his articles critical of Iranian leadership, a move condemned by numerous human rights and journalism organizations.

<i>Parazit</i> 2008 American TV series or program

Parazit was a weekly half-hour Persian-language satirical television show broadcast on Voice of America's Persian service. The show poked fun at Iranian politics. Kambiz Hosseini and Saman Arbabi, Iranian expatriates living in Washington, D.C., started the show as a 10-minute segment in another show influenced by the American satirical news show The Daily Show. Parazit was launched before the June 2009 presidential elections in Iran. It became very popular in Iran, reaching its audience via illegal satellite dishes, the internet, or bootleg DVDs. Its name is a reference to the Iranian government's repeated attempts to jam foreign satellite programming. Because it was distributed through unofficial channels, it is impossible to determine the audience. However, as of January 2011, the show's YouTube channel was viewed 45,000 times a week, while their Facebook page was visited 17 million times a month. A new season was reported to begin on 17 August 2012 after a six-month hiatus, but did not resume broadcasting.

Manoto was an international free-to-air Persian language general entertainment channel launched in October 2010, owned by Marjan Television Network. It was based in London and its programs included documentaries, films, series, news and reports. The channel ceased satellite broadcasting on 31 January 2024, but continues to operate via social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, X, and YouTube.

He is the host of Paradox, a Podcast series that airs on Radio Farda. He was the host of Poletik, a satirical news program that airs on Radio Farda, as well as weekly podcast on human rights in Iran, Five in the Afternoon. He created and hosted the successful and critically acclaimed TV show Parazit on Voice of America from 2009-2012.
