One on One is the second studio album by British pop singer Yazz. The album was released in April 1994, more than five years after her debut album, Wanted . The album contains the UK top 40 hit single "How Long", a duet with Aswad.
Yazz commenced recording sessions for a second album with Big Life Records in 1989, as the follow-up to Wanted. Following the release of the "Treat Me Good" single (UK No. 20, [1] SUI No. 28, [2] NED No. 48, [3] GER No. 55, [4] AUS No. 100 [5] ) in June 1990, an album titled Revolution of Love was scheduled for release, [6] but was ultimately shelved when Yazz parted with the record company.
Following the release of Yazz's first single with Polydor Records in March 1992, "One True Woman" (UK No. 60 [1] ), an album of the same name was planned for release in May 1992, [7] but was cancelled. Several tracks recorded for this album ended up on One on One, eventually released two years later, although "One True Woman" was not among them.
Three singles were released from the album: a cover version of the Ace song "How Long" (UK No. 31, [1] GER No. 52 [8] ), "Have Mercy" (UK No. 42, [1] GER No. 86 [9] ), and a cover version of The Korgis' "Everybody's Got to Learn Sometime" (UK No. 56 [1] ). The album failed to chart, however.
Mel and Kim were a British pop duo, consisting of sisters Melanie and Kim Appleby. Originally managed by Alan Whitehead, they achieved success between 1986 and 1988, before Melanie died of pneumonia in January 1990 at the age of 23.

D:Ream is a Northern Irish/English pop rock and dance group. They had a UK No. 1 hit with "Things Can Only Get Better" in 1994. Eight more top 40 hits followed, including "U R the Best Thing" and "Shoot Me with Your Love". They released three albums, two of which reached the UK top five. The group had an all-male line-up which varied in number, but mainly centred on lead singer Peter Cunnah. The live band included keyboard player Brian Cox, who is now a renowned physicist and television presenter; although Cunnah, as the only official member, normally played keyboards on studio recordings.
