The Order of Independence (Wisam al-Istiqial) is the fourth knighthood order of the Kingdom of Jordan.
It was instituted in 1921 by Emir Hussein bin Ali, Sharif of Mecca.
The Order of Independence is divided in five classes:

The ribbon is purple with white and black stripes on its borders.
Senior members of the Jordanian Royal Family as well as Prime Ministers of Jordan are among the current recipients of the Order's highest rank of Grand Cordon. Others include foreign royalty, prominent businessmen and cultural figures.

Hamad bin Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa is King of Bahrain since 14 February 2002, after ruling as Emir of Bahrain from 6 March 1999. He is the son of Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa, the previous and first emir. The country has been ruled by the Al Khalifa dynasty since 1783.
Faisal Akef Al-Fayez is a Jordanian politician who was the 34th Prime Minister of Jordan from 25 October 2003 to 6 March 2005. Additionally, Al-Fayez is the only person in Jordanian history who was a Prime Minister, President of the Senate, President of the House of Representatives, and Head of the Royal Hashemite Court. He took office following the resignation of Ali Abu al-Ragheb. He previously served as Minister of Defense and is very close to King Abdullah II.
Prince Hassan bin Talal is a member of the Jordanian royal family who was previously Crown Prince from 1965 to 1999, being removed just three weeks before King Hussein's death. He is now 20th in line to succeed his nephew King Abdullah II.
Salman bin Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa is Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Bahrain. He is also the deputy supreme commander of the Bahrain Defence Force.
