The Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (Indonesian : Panglima Tentara Nasional Indonesia, known as Panglima TNI) is the professional head and highest-ranking officer of the Indonesian National Armed Forces. Directly answerable to the president of Indonesia (the supreme commander), the position is held by any four-star officer who previously served as Chief of Staff of the Army (KSAD), Chief of Staff of the Navy (KSAL) or Chief of Staff of the Air Force (KSAU). As the Commander, the officeholder has direct command and control over all of the Indonesian National Armed Forces' principal operational commands such as Army Strategic Command, Kopassus, Indonesian Marine Corps, Fleet Commands, Air Ops Commands, etc. Per the president's decree 66/2019, a four-star officer acting as Deputy Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces deputises for the Commander, but as of 2024, the office is still vacant. [2] The name of the office has evolved over the years, with the present name being finalized once the Indonesian National Police was separated from the Armed Forces in 1999. [lower-alpha 1]
The present Commander is General Agus Subiyanto, an Indonesian Army officer, who was inaugurated by President Joko Widodo on 22 November 2023.

The Indonesian National Armed Forces are the military forces of the Republic of Indonesia. It consists of the Army (TNI-AD), Navy (TNI-AL), and Air Force (TNI-AU). The President of Indonesia is the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces. As of 2023, it comprises approximately 400,000 military personnel including the Indonesian Marine Corps, which is a branch of the Navy.
The Indonesian Army is the land branch of the Indonesian National Armed Forces. It has an estimated strength of 300,400 active personnel. The history of the Indonesian Army has its roots in 1945 when the Tentara Keamanan Rakyat (TKR) "People's Security Army" first emerged as a paramilitary and police corps.
General of the army, was the highest rank of the Indonesian Army. It was the equivalent of admiral of the fleet and marshal of the air force within the Indonesian Armed Forces ranking system. These ranks were honorary and did not confer additional authority or responsibility.

The Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) uses a simplified ranking system for the three branches of Indonesian Army, Indonesian Navy and Indonesian Air Force. Most of the ranks are similar with differences for the rank titles of the high-ranking officers. Exception exists, however, in the ranks of the service members of the Indonesian Marine Corps. While Indonesian Marine Corps is a branch of the Navy, the rank titles of the Marine Corps are the same as those of the Army, but it still uses the Navy's style insignia.
Moeldoko is an Indonesian government official, businessman, and retired general serving as the current Chief of Staff of Presidency for President Joko Widodo, previously serving as Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces. He graduated from the Indonesian Military Academy (AKABRI) in 1981 and received the Adhi Makayasa medal as valedictorian of his class. On 27 August 2013, he was appointed Commander of the National Armed Forces by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and approved by the People's Representative Council after serving as the Chief of Staff of the Army for only three months. He succeeded Admiral (Ret.) Agus Suhartono who retired in May 2013.
The Ministry of Defense is an Indonesian government ministry responsible for the defense of Indonesia. The ministry was formerly known as the Department of Defense until 2009 when the nomenclature changed based on Act Number 39 of 2008 on State Ministries, the name of the Department of Defense was changed to the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Indonesia. The currently-appointed minister is Prabowo Subianto, replacing Ryamizard Ryacudu on 23 October 2019.
Panglima a military title used in Indonesia and Malaysia, and historically in the Philippines. It means 'a commander of a body of troops'. In the past it is used to call some prominent military leaders in Malay world. In modern times it is reserved for the chiefs of the armed forces of Indonesia and Malaysia and some other posts.
General (Ret.) Mulyono is an Indonesian former general who previously served as the Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Army. He was appointed by President of Indonesia Joko Widodo in 2015, replacing Gatot Nurmantyo who became commander (Panglima) of the Indonesian National Armed Forces.
The Indonesian National Armed Forces Day abbreviated HUT TNI is a national day of Indonesia that is celebrated on 5 October, the day of foundation of the Tentara Keamanan Rakyat, the predecessor of the TNI, in 1945, itself a replacement for the Badan Keamanan Rakyat established on 29 August the same year. Military parades, fun games, concerts and other events are held nationwide in major cities and provincial capitals in honor of the INAF's serving men and women and military veterans.
The Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Army is the highest position in the Indonesian Army. The position is held by the four-star General appointed by and reporting directly to the Commander of the Armed Forces. Chief of Staff is assisted by the Vice Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Army, which the position is held by a three-star General.
Admiral (Ret.) Tedjo Edhy Purdijatno is an Indonesian politician and retired Naval officer. He was the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia from 27 October 2014 to 12 August 2015. Tedjo was also the Chief of Staff of the Navy from 2008 to 2009.

The People's Security Agency, commonly abbreviated as BKR, was an Indonesian government agency established to undertake the task of maintaining security together with the people and the state offices. The BKR was formed by the Preparatory Committee for Indonesian Independence (PPKI) in its session on 22 August 1945 and announced by President Sukarno on the next day.
General Feisal Edno Tanjung, known as Feisal Tanjung, was an Indonesian Army general who was ABRI Commander and also served as Coordinating Minister for Politics and Security of the Republic of Indonesia. He had experience in combat, territorial and education. Much of his career was spent in special forces, Sandhi Yudha RPKAD Group (Kopassus) and later at the Kostrad 17th Airborne Infantry Brigade.
The Koopssus, is a special forces unit of the Indonesian National Armed Forces with counter-terrorism duties. The unit operates and was formed similarly to the United States Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC) to execute special operations missions worldwide.
The Indonesian National Armed Forces Strategic Intelligence Agency, abbreviated BAIS TNI, is a state institution that specifically handles military intelligence and is under the command of the Indonesian National Armed Forces headquarters. BAIS time-frames for actual and forecasted intelligence and strategy analysis for the future for the Armed Forces Commander and for the Ministry of Defence.
Deputy Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces is the second highest position in the Indonesian National Armed Forces. The position is held by the four-star General/Admiral/Air Marshal as part of the leadership element, together with the Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces. As per President's decree Number 66 2019, a Wakil Panglima TNI is the coordinator of armed forces power consolidation to achieve inter-service operability. In performing his/her duty, Wakil Panglima reports to Panglima TNI.
Hamim Tohari is a military officer from the Indonesian Army. He is currently the expert staff for environment to the army chief of staff. He served in the position since 31 October 2023. Previously, he was assigned to different military units, including as the Chief of the Army Information Services.
