The Ministry of Tourism (Indonesian : Kementerian Pariwisata) (abbreviated Kemenpar) is the ministry in Indonesia concerned with administration of tourism.
In the 1990s, tourism was a directorate general within the Department of Tourism, Posts and Telecommunications (Indonesian : Departemen Pariwisata, Pos dan Telekomunikasi) which concerned with administration of postal and telecommunication as well., [1] not a standalone department/ministry yet. [2]
The department name changes to Department of Tourism, Art and Culture (Indonesian : Departemen Pariwisata, Seni, dan Budaya) under the Seventh Development Cabinet by transferring the Posts and Telecommunications responsibility to Department of Transportation. It became the State Ministry of Tourism and Art (Indonesian : Menteri Negara Pariwisata dan Kesenian) and changes to become Department of Tourism and Culture (Indonesian : Departemen Kebudayaan dan Pariwisata) on Gus Dur's National Unity Cabinet. It became the State Ministry of Culture and Tourism during Megawati's presidency (Mutual Assistance Cabinet) and changed name again to become Ministry of Culture and Tourism during the first term of Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono's presidency (United Indonesia Cabinet). It changed into Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy during the second term (Second United Indonesia Cabinet) of Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono presidency as the cultural responsibilities were transferred into Ministry of Education and Culture.
In 2014, the ministry name changes to become the Ministry of Tourism after President Joko Widodo announce the cabinet line up. [3] Joko Widodo plan to spin off the Directorate General of Creative Economy into a new separate organisation which will be named Creative Economy Agency (Indonesian: Badan Ekonomi Kreatif). [4] However, the decision later reversed by Joko Widodo in his second administration. The Creative Economy Agency later re-merged to the Ministry of Tourism; however, it retains the original structure of both agencies. Thus, the ministry have a new agency attached, Tourism and Creative Economy Agency. [5] [6]
In 2024, the ministry was separated into 2 ministries, Ministry of Tourism and Ministry of Creative Economy under Prabowo Subianto presidency.
Based on Presidential Decree No. 96/2019 and 97/2019, and Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy/Head of Tourism and Creative Economy Agency Decree No. 1/2021, the ministerial part consisted of:
Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, commonly referred to as SBY, is an Indonesian politician, painter, and retired army general who served as the sixth president of Indonesia from 2004 to 2014 and the second president of Indonesia from the military after Suharto. He founded the Democratic Party of Indonesia and served as its 4th chairman from 2014 until 2020. He also served as the 8th and 10th coordinating minister for political and security affairs from 2000 until 2001 and again from 2001 until 2004. He also served as the president of the Assembly and chair of the Council of the Global Green Growth Institute. He was also the former chairman of ASEAN due to Indonesia hosting of the 18th and 19th ASEAN Summits.
The Post-Suharto era is the contemporary history in Indonesia, which began with the resignation of authoritarian president Suharto on 21 May 1998. Since his resignation, the country has been in a period of transition known as the Reform era. The National Unity Cabinet was the Indonesian cabinet which served under President Abdurrahman Wahid and Vice President Megawati Sukarnoputri from 29 October 1999 until 23 July 2001. He served as Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy under Joko Widodo between 23 October 2019 and 22 December 2020. His deputy minister before being called off was Angela Tanoesoedibjo.
Previously known as The Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs . The Coordinating Ministry for Political and Security Affairs is the Indonesian government ministry in charge of the planning and policy co-ordination, as well as synchronisation of policies in the affairs of politics and national security. This Ministry is led by a "Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs". Throughout its history, the post was usually occupied by retired Armed forces high-ranking officers, but under Joko Widodo's cabinet, the position was previously held by a politician of civilian background, Mahfud MD. This position is currently held by Budi Gunawan.

Presidential Delivery Unit for Development Monitoring and Oversight was a work unit established by Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono to carry out specific tasks related to the smoothness of the fulfillment of the work program of Second United Indonesia Cabinet. Kuntoro Mangkusubroto served as head, whose appointment and inauguration were conducted simultaneously with Second United Indonesia Cabinet. UKP4 was formally established on December 8, 2009, based on Presidential Regulation No. 54 of 2009. UKP4 is a continuation of the work unit of the President of Program and Reform Management (UKP3R).
Admiral (Ret.) Tedjo Edhy Purdijatno is an Indonesian politician and retired Naval officer. He was the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia from 27 October 2014 to 12 August 2015. Tedjo was also the Chief of Staff of the Navy from 2008 to 2009.

The Indonesia–Japan Economic Partnership Agreement is a bilateral agreement signed between Indonesia and Japan on 20 August 2007 and having been in force since 1 July 2008. Initiated by Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi, it was Indonesia's first bilateral free trade agreement.
