Mauro Davi dos Santos Nepomuceno (born 1 March 2001), better known by his stage name Oruam (Brazilian Portuguese: [oɾuˈɐ̃] ), is a Brazilian rapper, singer and songwriter.
Oruam gained prominence after releasing his first song, called "Invejoso", with the participation of Chefin, Jhowzin and Raffé. Where he stands out with his chorus in the song. [1] After this feat, in 2022 he signed with the record label Mainstreet, [2] created by Orochi. Since then, Oruam has accumulated several other hits, with millions of views on all digital platforms.
All this success made Oruam win the "Revelação do Trap" award in 2022, which was held by Sobre Funk. [3]
Raised in the Cidade de Deus favela, Oruam is the son of one of the leaders of Comando Vermelho, Marcinho VP [4] who is in prison. Oruam wore a shirt that said "freedom" with a photo of his father at his Lollapalooza show in March 2024, which generated criticism on social media. [5]
On 23 January 2025, São Paulo city councilwoman Amanda Vettorazzo filed a bill that prohibits the city government from hiring or supporting events that promote crime and gangs. The councilwoman has been receiving threats [6] [7] [8] from Oruam's audience, which is why she filed a police report. Later, congressman Kim Kataguiri announced the proposal of a similar bill at the federal level, which was nicknamed "anti-Oruam". [9]
