It is located in Perambur, [1] Chennai [2] in Tamil Nadu [3] with the geographic coordinates of 13°06′32.8″N80°14′27.0″E / 13.109111°N 80.240833°E / 13.109111; 80.240833 at an altitude of 34.23 m above the mean sea level.

Details

This is the first shrine in India dedicated to Our Lady of Lourdes. This church is considered to be a replica of the Basilica at Lourdes in France. [4]

The Chennai Corporation has started earmarking area in parks and public spaces for development of the next phase of Metro stations in various parts of the city. Greenery in the Murasoli Maran Park in Perambur, is expected to be reduced because of the second phase. Families are increasingly flocking to facilities such as the Murasoli Maran Park near Perambur flyover. For over years, the sprawling Murasoli Maran Park at Perambur was a centre of attraction, especially for the kids. The lockdown and poor maintenance have however adversely affected the footfall in the park. This is one of the biggest parks in the locality.
