"Out the Window" is a song by American singer Kehlani. It was released on November 7, 2025, through Atlantic Records.
"Out the Window" was released five months after Kehlani's "Folded", which became their first top-ten entry on the Billboard Hot 100 and their first number 1 on both Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and Hot R&B Songs charts. Kehlani performed "Folded" on Jimmy Kimmel Live! earlier that week, and later issued the Homage Pack remixes featuring Toni Braxton, Brandy, JoJo, Mario, Ne-Yo and Tank. In 2024, they also collaborated with Cardi B ("Safe"), Mariah Carey and Shenseea ("Sugar Sweet"), Leon Thomas ("Dirt on My Shoes"), and Kwn ("Worst Behaviour"). [1]
In a Billboard Family interview, Kehlani stated that they were working on a new album planned for release the following year. Her most recent studio album, Crash (2024), received a Grammy Award nomination for Best Progressive R&B Album. Kehlani was also announced as an honoree at the 17th annual ASCAP Women Behind the Music event, held on November 12 in Los Angeles. [1]
Prior to its release, "Out the Window" circulated online through snippets shared on social media. Kehlani also previewed the song during early live performances, where audiences were already singing along despite the track not yet being officially released. [2]
"Out the Window" draws on R&B, featuring layered harmonies, strings, and soft percussion. Melodic Magazine noted that Kehlani's vocals complement the instrumental arrangement. [2] A Bay Area native, Kehlani leans into late-1990s R&B vibes with the song. Lyrically, the song explores the aftermath of a dissolved relationship and the possibility of reconciliation. Unlike the previous single, where Kehlani resisted temptation while moving on, in this track she is actively considering reuniting. [3]
