The Indian Administrative Service (IAS) is the administrative arm of the All India Services of Government of India. The IAS is one of the three All India Services along with the Indian Police Service and Indian Forest Service. Members of these three services serve the Government of India as well as the individual states. IAS officers are also deployed to various government establishments such as constitutional bodies,staff and line agencies,auxiliary bodies,public sector undertakings,regulatory bodies,statutory bodies and autonomous bodies.
A sub-divisional magistrate,also known as sub collector,revenue divisional officer,or assistant commissioner,is the administrative head of a sub-division in an Indian district,exercising executive,revenue,and magisterial duties. The specific name depends on the state or union territory. Poonch or Punch is a district of the Jammu division of Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir in the disputed Kashmir region. With headquarters in the town of Poonch,it is bounded by the Line of Control on three sides. The 1947–48 war between India and Pakistan divided the earlier district into two parts. Shopian district comes under the Pir Panjal Range which makes it very cold in winter. After partition of India,it was a tehsil of Pulwama district. In March,2007,the district status was granted by the Government of India. The economy of the district depends on agriculture,particularly apple growing.
Narinder Nath Vohra,popularly referred as N. N. Vohra,is a retired 1959 batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of Punjab cadre who was the 12th governor of the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir. He was the first civilian governor of Jammu and Kashmir in eighteen years after Jagmohan.
Masud Choudhary was an Indian educator,social reformer,thinker and an administrator of Jammu and Kashmir union territory. He was the founding Vice Chancellor of Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University in Rajouri,J&K. He was also the Chief Patron of the Muslim Gurjar Desh Charitable Trust. Choudhary served in the police and retired as the Additional Director of the General Police (IPS) in 2004.
Shah Faesal is an Indian bureaucrat currently posted as Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Culture (India) In 2010,he became the first Kashmiri to top the Indian Civil Services Examination. He tendered his resignation from the Indian bureaucracy in protest on 9 January 2019,citing "unabated killings" in Kashmir among other things,which,reportedly,was "never accepted" by the central government and he even withdrew the same later.
Parvez Dewan is an Indian administrator,author and librettist (lyricist). He is an Indian Administrative Services (IAS) officer of Jammu and Kashmir cadre. He became Secretary of the Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs in 2011,and also the chairman of the Overseas Indian Facilitation Centre (OIFC). In 2012 he was appointed India's Tourism Secretary.

Dr Nirmal Kumar Singh is an Indian politician and was the last Speaker of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly of the erstwhile Jammu and Kashmir State. He is a former Deputy Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir. He is a leader of Bharatiya Janata Party. On 1 March 2015,he assumed the charge of the Minister for Power Development and Housing and Urban Development.
Chewang Phunsog is an Indian civil servant and the chairman of the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) of the Government of India. He is a former Chief Secretary of the state of Jammu and Kashmir. Phunsog,an Albert Parvin Fellow at the Woodrow Wilson School,was awarded the fourth highest civilian award of the Padma Shri by the Government of India,in 1998.
Shahid Iqbal Choudhary is a 2009 batch Indian Administrative Service officer from Jammu and Kashmir cadre and the current Secretary,Department of Rural Development and Local Self Government,Jammu &Kashmir. He secured an All India Rank 51 in the UPSC's Civil Services Examination for the year 2008. Shahid was the first Muslim from Jammu region and first Gurjar from J&K to get into Indian Administrative Service as a direct recruit from IAS.
