Owala is a brand that specializes in insulated stainless-steel water bottles. The Owala brand is a subsidiary of Trove Brands and is known for its patented lid design and unique aesthetics.

Overview

Owala saw a surge in popularity during the COVID-19 pandemic as water bottles became a trendy status symbol. [1] Owala bottles emerged as a competitor to Stanley and Hydro Flask bottles. History

Owala was founded by parent company Trove Brands, releasing the Owala FreeSip as its first product in 2020. [7] [8] Six brands operate under Trove Brands. Trove Brands was founded by Kim and Steve Sorenson and their son, Michael Sorenson, is the current CEO. [9]

Design

Owala bottles are modular, allowing for consumers to mix and match the lid, handles, and other colors. The Owala FreeSip has a patented lid, allowing users to drink from either a wide-mouth opening or the built-in straw. [7] [10]

Recognition

In 2023, TIME recognized the Owala FreeSip bottle as one of the best inventions. [7]
