Barakat Oyinlomo Quadre (born 1 May 2003) is a Nigerian tennis player. [1] [2] [3] [4] In March 2018 [update] , she was ranked number one in Nigeria, ninth in Africa and No. 945 in singles. [5] [6]
Quadre has represented Nigeria in the Billie Jean King Cup, making her debut in 2021. [7]
Quadre began playing tennis at age 4. As a junior player, she was ranked 173rd on 17 June 2019. [8] At the 2015 ITF Junior Championship in Morocco, Quadre established herself as one of Africa's best junior tennis players, and secured a scholarship to High Performance Center in Morocco. [9] [10] At the 2016 ITF U-18 Championship, Quadre made the quarterfinals. In 2017, defeated Chakira Dermane of Togo 6–0, 6–0 to set a quarterfinal clash with Sophia Biolay from France. [11] At national level, she was chosen to represent Nigeria at the 2016 Africa Junior Tennis Championship. [12] She won the ITF U-16 Championship in Togo. [13]
At the 2018 Lagos Open, Quadre defeated Airhunmwunde 6–1, 6–0 to qualify for the second round. In her next game, she lost to Anna Sisková and crashed out of the tournament. [14] [15]

The International Tennis Federation (ITF) is the governing body of world tennis, wheelchair tennis, and beach tennis. Lagos Open is an International Tennis Federation accredited tournament that takes place annually at Lagos Lawn Tennis Club. It is classified as a $25,000 tournament on the Women's and Men's Circuit, and has been held in Lagos, Nigeria. Due to the West African Ebola virus epidemic, the 14th edition was competed only by African players and was made a non-point winning tournament by ITF. By 2015, the move has reversed, and the competition regained its international status. In 2018, the competition was renamed from "Governor's Cup Lagos Tennis" to "Lagos Open", which was stated by the organizers as a procedure from ITF to increase the prestige of the competition from a Futures tournaments to a Challenger series. The total prize money for the 2017 edition was $100,000.
Nigeria competed at the 2019 African Games held from 19 to 31 August 2019 in Rabat, Morocco. In total, 308 athletes represented Nigeria at the games. Athletes representing Nigeria won 46 gold medals, 33 silver medals and 48 bronze medals and the country finished 2nd in the medal table.

Marjory Logan Gengler Smith is an American retired tennis player. In 1973, while a student at Princeton University, she was captain of the women's tennis team and led them to an undefeated season in 1972. She was the top ranked player at Princeton, the number one-ranked female player in the Eastern United States, and the first woman to be featured, as "Princeton's Best Athlete", on the cover of Princeton Alumni Weekly. In 1973, inspired by the Battle of the Sexes between Billie Jean King and Bobby Riggs, Gengler took on Jeffrey Lewis-Oakes, the top ranked men's junior varsity player, but lost the match. Gengler competed at the US Open in mixed doubles in 1971, 1973, and 1974 and in doubles in 1971, as well as singles in 1968, 1969, 1970, and 1971. She also competed at Wimbledon in mixed doubles in 1972. Gengler is married to retired professional tennis player Stan Smith.
