P. J. Smyth (born 1948 in Tuam, County Galway) is an Irish former Gaelic footballer who played for his local club Tuam Stars and at senior level for the Galway county team from 1971 until 1972. [1] Smyth has the distinction of being the first football All-Star goalkeeper.

St Jarlath's College is a Catholic co-educational secondary school in Tuam, County Galway. The college was founded in 1800 and in 2009 absorbed St. Patrick's College, Tuam. The College, which operates under patronage of the Archbishop of Tuam, is named after Jarlath, or Iarlaith, who founded a monastery in the town when, as legend has it, his chariot wheel broke. The enrolment numbers in 2022 are 595.

It is one of the four provincial competitions of the 2020 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship. The winning team (Mayo) received the J. J. Nestor Cup, named after J. J. Nestor of Quinaltagh, County Galway.
