History
Due to poor performance and disappointing ratings, the PBA disbanded a broadcasting consortium between the National Broadcasting Network and the Intercontinental Broadcasting Corporation after the 2003 season, and took bids on a new broadcast contract for the league. In January 2004, the PBA began a contract with the Associated Broadcasting Company to broadcast PBA games for one year, beating bids from Solar Sports and a group led by former Vintage Television owner Bobong Velez. The new ABC operation picked up talent from the former NBN/IBC coverage, including Mico Halili, Quinito Henson, Paolo Trillo and Norman Black. Ed Picson was also hired by ABC, after a two-year hiatus from covering the PBA due to a fallout between him and Viva TV in 2002.
After the 2004-05 PBA Philippine Cup, the league and the network extended the contract for the 2005 Fiesta Conference. After the contract expired in 2005, despite a low amount of money offered, the league chose ABC over Solar Sports, who had a much bigger bid than the former. ABC and the PBA then signed a three-year deal that expired after the 2007-08 season.
Citing financial constraints, ABC backed out of bidding for a new contract for the 2008-09 season's PBA coverage. Solar Sports, through local network Radio Philippines Network (RPN), would the new broadcast partner of the PBA for the following season.
Even though the network would be dropping the PBA, ABC still rebranded their PBA coverage during their August 2008 relaunch as TV5 in the middle of the 2008 PBA Fiesta Conference Finals (which would also be the final games shown by the network). The final PBA game shown on ABC/TV5 was Game 7 of the Fiesta Conference finals between the Air21 Express and Barangay Ginebra Kings on August 20, 2008. Mico Halili and Jason Webb were the commentators for its last run.

Founded in 1975, it is the first professional basketball league in Asia and is the second-oldest continuously operating professional basketball league in the world after North America's NBA.
Radio Philippines Network, Inc. (RPN) is a Philippine television and radio company based in Quezon City. It is currently owned through majority share by Nine Media Corporation of the ALC Group of Companies; along with other stakeholders Presidential Communications Office (PCO) and Far East Managers and Investors Inc., and private sector. The network's main offices and transmitter is located at Panay Avenue, Brgy. South Triangle also in Quezon City. Founded by Roberto Benedicto and prior to its privatization, it was the sister station of current government owned and controlled Intercontinental Broadcasting Corporation and formerly an attached agency of the now-PCO, despite having 20% minority stake in ownership.

Norman Augustus Black is a Consultant to the San Beda University Red Lions Basketball team playing in the NCAA Philippines. He is a former professional basketball player who played in the CBA, NBA, and PBA. He's the former head coach for the Meralco Bolts.
The PBA on NBN and The PBA on IBC were brandings used for presentations of Philippine Basketball Association games produced by Summit Sports and was aired on Philippine television networks National Broadcasting Network and Intercontinental Broadcasting Corporation, respectively in 2003. The PBA on NBN and The PBA on IBC succeeded PBA's longtime TV partner Vintage Television.
One Sports, currently rebranding to Sports5, is the sports division of TV5 Network, Inc. and jointly-operated with sister company Cignal TV. One Sports supplies and airs major sporting events in the Philippines and the world for free-to-air TV channels TV5, RPTV, One Sports channel, Cignal-exclusive channels One Sports+, PBA Rush, NBA TV Philippines and UAAP Varsity Channel, and online esports streaming channel GG Network.
The PBA on Vintage Sports was a branding used for presentation of Philippine Basketball Association games produced by Vintage Sports, a sports-oriented media company and was aired on Philippine television networks City2 Television/BBC from 1982 to 1985, PTV from 1986 to 1995 and IBC from 1996 to 1999.
The PBA on Viva TV was a presentation of Philippine Basketball Association games on Intercontinental Broadcasting Corporation by Viva Entertainment after the company absorbed Vintage Sports.
ABS-CBN Sports was a sports division of the Philippine media conglomerate ABS-CBN Corporation, which aired some of the notable sporting events in the Philippines.
The 2006–07 PBA Philippine Cup finals was the championship series of the 2006-07 PBA season's 2006-07 PBA Philippine Cup of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). The series was a best of seven affair and was the 92nd championship disputed in the league. The teams competing are first-seed Barangay Ginebra Kings and the second-seed San Miguel Beermen, two of the four San Miguel Corporation-owned teams.

Solar Entertainment had acquired the rights to the PBA after a highly publicized bidding war with major broadcaster ABS-CBN, and aired games on several channels, including Basketball TV, the Radio Philippines Network, and later the ABS-CBN-owned Studio 23.
One Morning Cafe was a Philippine morning radio and television show that was aired simultaneously on three government-owned-and-controlled television stations NBN, RPN and IBC and in radio via 13 RPN Radyo Ronda and 32 PBS Radyo ng Bayan stations of the Philippine Broadcasting Service.
Aksyon TV was a Philippine free-to-air television network. It was a joint venture of Nation Broadcasting Corporation and TV5 Network, Inc., both under PLDT media arm MediaQuest Holdings. Its programs were primarily produced by TV5's divisions News5 and ESPN5. AksyonTV formerly broadcasts terrestrially through DWNB-TV in Metro Manila, as well as on UHF channel 29 in Cebu, Davao and other relay stations, and on a digital subchannel via channel 5.2 in Metro Manila. It occupies the frequency previously used by MTV Philippines, a subsidiary of MTV Networks Asia Pacific from 2001 until 2006.
AKTV was the primetime sports programming block in the Philippines. Owned and operated by TV5, it occupied the 5:00 to 11:00pm timeslot of IBC; weekend coverage usually began at 11:00 am to 11:00 pm. It started on June 5, 2011, and it ended in May 2013 due to high airtime costs and low ratings.
The PBA on One Sports is the branding for presentation of the Philippine Basketball Association basketball games which started since the 2011-12 season. Telecasts are produced by One Sports, the sports division of TV5 Network Inc., and aired through One Sports and PBA Rush, with simulcast and livestreaming on Cignal Play, Pilipinas Live and Smart LiveStream. Also, there is a separate coverage in English commentary on PBA Rush since July 15, 2016.

Mico Halili is a Filipino sports television personality, sportscaster and sports journalist. He is best known as the lead sportscaster for the basketball games of the PBA and UAAP. In October 2020, he became the Creative Director for sports programs and sports digital properties at Cignal TV.
SportsCenter Philippines is the flagship newscast of One Sports, the sports division of TV5 Network. It aired on TV5 from December 17, 2017, to January 10, 2020. It is the local version of SportsCenter following TV5's partnership with global sports network ESPN after a few years ESPN in the Philippines was hiatus for 5 years after being replaced by Fox Sports Asia. It airs every Wednesday & Friday at 9:30 PM and Saturdays & Sundays at 9:00 PM.
