Pablo Castro is an Argentinean-born architect and co-founder of the award-winning architectural design firm Obra Architects in New York City, Beijing, and Seoul. [1]

Education and early career

Born in San Juan, Castro left Argentina in 1989 to move to New York. He holds an Architecture diploma from the Universidad Nacional de San Juan and a MS in Advanced Architectural Design from Columbia University Graduate School of Architecture Planning and Preservation. From 1995 to 2000, Castro served as Senior Associate at Steven Holl Architects, where he was in charge of the design and realization of the award-winning College of Architecture and Landscape Architecture for the University of Minnesota. He spent four months in Helsinki detailing Steven Holl's breakthrough project Kiasma Museum of Contemporary Art which opened to the public in 1998.

Professional life

Together with partner Jennifer Lee, he established Obra Architects in New York City in the year 2000. [2] The firm won the MoMA PS1 Young Architects Program with their project Beatfuse! which opened to the public in the summer of 2006. Projects include Casa Osa, [3] [4] a private residence in Costa Rica, the award-winning Sanhe Kindergarten in Beijing, [5] private residences in Argentina and New York, [6] and Exquisite Corpse, a solo show and installation featuring models and sketches on view at the Architektur Galerie Berlin in September 2016. Academic life

Castro has taught at RISD, Parsons, and Pratt Institute Graduate Architecture. He was Guest Interim Head of the Architecture Department at Cranbrook Academy of Art in 2005 and the Cass Gilbert Visiting Professor at the University of Minnesota College of Architecture and Landscape Architecture in 1999. He has been an Honorary Professor at Universidad Nacional de San Juan since 2011. 

Awards

He is a Fellow of the American Academy in Rome (2012–2013), [8] Winner of the MoMA PS1 Young Architects Program (2006), [9] Architectural League of New York's 2005 Emerging Voices, [10] a New York Foundation for the Arts Fellow, and Society of Architectural Historians de Montëquin Senior Fellow (2005). The work of his firm Obra Architects has won six American Institute of Architects NY Design Awards [11] [12] [13] [14] [15] and two Chicago Athenaeum American Architecture Awards.

Gluckman Tang Architects is a New York City-based architecture firm, providing services in architecture, planning, and interior design. Established by Richard Gluckman in 1977, the firm is known for minimalist design.

Frances Halsband FAIA is an American architect and educator. She is a founder, with Robert Kliment, of Kliment Halsband Architects, a New York City design firm widely recognized for preservation, adaptive reuse and master planning projects. Significant works include The Brown University Framework for Physical Planning, Long Island Railroad Entrance at 34 Street, Visitor Center at Franklin Roosevelt Presidential Library, Mount Sinai Ambulatory Surgery Facility Kyabirwa Uganda. Iwan Baan Dutch photographer

Iwan Baan is a Dutch photographer. He has challenged a long-standing tradition of depicting buildings as isolated and static by representing people in architecture and showing the building's environment, trying "to produce more of a story or a feel for a project" and "to communicate how people use the space". He has photographed buildings by many of the world's most prominent architects, including Rem Koolhaas and Toyo Ito. He is "one of the most widely published" photographers in the world. His candid "polysemic shots" have been compared to the work of Diane Arbus.

Linked Hybrid

Linked Hybrid is a building complex built in Beijing, China designed by Steven Holl Architects. It is recognized for its environmental design and uses geo-thermal wells for cooling and heating. Linked Hybrid has won several awards such as the Best Tall Building Overall Award by the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat in 2009.

archimania is a collective of architects and designers in downtown Memphis, Tennessee’s South Main Historic Arts District. The collective was founded in 1995 and is led by Todd Walker, FAIA, and Barry Alan Yoakum, FAIA.

Annabelle Selldorf

Annabelle Selldorf is a German-born architect and founding principal of Selldorf Architects, a New York City-based architecture practice. She is a fellow of the American Institute of Architects (FAIA) and the recipient of the 2016 AIANY Medal of Honor. Her projects include the Sunset Park Material Recovery Facility, Neue Galerie New York, The Rubell Museum, a renovation of the Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute, David Zwirner's 20th Street Gallery, The Mwabwindo School, 21 East 12th Street, 200 11th Avenue, 10 Bond Street, and several buildings for the LUMA Foundation's new contemporary art center in Arles, France.

Caples Jefferson Architects is an American design and architecture firm founded in 1987 in New York City by principal architects Sara Caples and Everardo Jefferson. The firm focuses on architecture in a public, cultural & community context, and is unique for its dedication to designing approximately half of its projects in communities underserved by the design profession.

Guy Nordenson is a structural engineer and professor of structural engineering and architecture at Princeton University School of Architecture. He attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering in 1977, followed by a Masters of Science in Structural Engineering and Structural Mechanics from the University of California at Berkeley in 1978. After graduating from UC Berkeley he worked at Forell/Elsesser Engineers in San Francisco (1978-1982) and Weidlinger Associates in New York City (1982–1987), before establishing the New York office of Ove Arup & Partners in 1987 where he was a director until leaving in 1997 to begin his own structural engineering practice, Guy Nordenson and Associates.

Louise Braverman is a New York City-based architect known for a design philosophy that aims to combine aesthetic design and social conscience. She is a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects (FAIA).

W Architecture & Landscape Architecture

W Architecture & Landscape Architecture is an international architecture and landscape architecture firm based in Brooklyn, New York City. Founded in 1999 by Barbara E. Wilks, the firm is primarily known for its design of major waterfront reclamation projects and collaborative repurposing of public spaces. W Architecture has received substantial coverage in the media for the Edge Park in Williamsburg, Brooklyn; a redesign of the West Harlem waterfront; restoration of St. Patrick's Island in Calgary; and the recent Plaza 33 Madison Square Garden adjacency.

Abruzzo Bodziak Architects is an architecture firm in Brooklyn, New York City, which was founded in 2009 by Emily Abruzzo and Gerald Bodziak, who first met as graduate students at the Princeton University School of Architecture.
