Pacific Northwest Athletic Conference

The Pacific Northwest Athletic Conference was an NAIA conference that operated from 1984 to 1998. Formed by the remnants of the Evergreen Conference, the conference broke up when most of its remaining members joined the NCAA's Pacific West Conference. [1]

Prior to the 2012-13 academic year, the Cougars competed in the Golden State Athletic Conference as part of the NAIA. On July 11, 2011 Azusa Pacific began the three-year transition process to becoming a member of the NCAA. At that time, they joined the Pacific West Conference of NCAA Division II and became a football-only member of the Great Northwest Athletic Conference.

The Azusa Pacific Cougars football program was a college football team that represented Azusa Pacific University. From 2012 to 2020, the team was a member of the Great Northwest Athletic Conference of NCAA Division II. Prior to the 2012 season, the Cougars had been an independent program in the NAIA. The Cougars had 10 head coaches since their first recorded football game in 1965. Azusa Pacific University decided to end its football program in December 2020 due to financial restructuring. The most famous player to play for the Cougars was Christian Okoye.

The Columbia Football Association was intercollegiate athletic football-only conference affiliated with the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). It was composed principally of member schools from the states of Oregon and Washington. From 1988 to 1995, the conference was divided into two separate, geographic divisions, the northern Mount Rainier League and the southern Mount Hood League. After 1995, the conference consolidated into a single division. Former members are currently scattered between NCAA Division II, and NCAA Division III, and the NAIA.
