The Pacific Office Automation 147 is a NASCAR Xfinity Series race that is held at the Portland International Raceway road course in Portland, Oregon.

Contents

This race replaced the B&L Transport 170, the series' race at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.

It the only standalone race on the Xfinity Series schedule and is held on the same weekend as the NASCAR Cup Series race at Gateway and the Truck Series race at Gateway. An ARCA Menards Series West race will be held at the track on the same weekend as this race.

A NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race was previously held at this track in 1999 and 2000. The Xfinity Series race at Portland marked the first time since then that a NASCAR national series has had a race in the Pacific Northwest.

History

On September 18, 2021, Elizabeth Blackstock from Jalopnik reported that there were rumors of the track hosting an Xfinity Series race and a Truck Series race in 2022. [1] On September 25, Jordan Bianchi from The Athletic reported that Portland would likely be on the 2022 Xfinity Series schedule. [2] The schedule was released on September 29 with Portland on Saturday, June 4. It replaced the race at another road course, the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. Both the Mid-Ohio and Portland races were promoted Green Savoree Racing Promotions. Mid-Ohio was given a Truck Series race after losing their Xfinity Series date. [3]

The race will be 147 miles and 75 laps long according to NASCAR.com. [4] Each of the stages will be 25 laps in length. [5]

On April 19, 2022, the track announced that Pacific Office Automation, a company located in nearby Beaverton, Oregon that makes technology for office space, would be the title sponsor of the race. [6]

The 2022 Dead On Tools 200 was the seventh stock car race of the 2022 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and the third iteration of the event. The race was held on Friday, May 6, 2022, in Darlington, South Carolina at Darlington Raceway, a 1.366 miles (2.198 km) permanent egg-shaped racetrack. The race was increased from 147 to 149 laps, due to a NASCAR overtime finish. At race's end, John Hunter Nemechek of Kyle Busch Motorsports would win, after holding off Carson Hocevar in the final restart. He would also lead the most laps. This was Nemechek's 12th career truck series win, and his first of the season. To fill out the podium, Grant Enfinger of GMS Racing would finish 3rd, respectively. Matt Crafton was going to be awarded with a 5th place finish, but was disqualified after post-race inspection, due to the front of the truck being too low to the ground. However, a few days later, ThorSport Racing won their appeal over NASCAR, and Crafton was able to keep his 5th place position.

The 2022 Pacific Office Automation 147 was the fourteenth stock car race of the 2022 NASCAR Xfinity Series and the first iteration of the event. The race was held on Saturday, June 4, 2022, in Portland, Oregon, at Portland International Raceway, a 1.967 miles (3.166 km) permanent road course. The race was contested over 75 laps. In a caution filled race, A. J. Allmendinger, driving for Kaulig Racing, took the lead on the final restart, and would earn his 12th career Xfinity Series win, and his second of the season. To fill out the podium, Myatt Snider of Jordan Anderson Racing and Austin Hill of Richard Childress Racing would finish 2nd and 3rd, respectively.

Darren Dilley is an American professional sports car racing driver and an elementary school physical education teacher. He last competed part-time in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, driving the No. 38 Ford Mustang for RSS Racing.

The 2023 Pacific Office Automation 147 was the 13th stock car race of the 2023 NASCAR Xfinity Series, and the 2nd iteration of the event. The race was held on Saturday, June 3, 2023, in Portland, Oregon at Portland International Raceway, a 1.967 miles (3.166 km) permanent road course. The race was increased from 75 to 77 laps, due to a NASCAR overtime finish. In a wild finish, Cole Custer, driving for Stewart-Haas Racing, would take advantage of the lead with two laps to go, after the 3rd-place driver of Parker Kligerman locked his brakes coming into turn one, ultimately forcing Justin Allgaier and Sheldon Creed to miss the chicane. Custer eventually held off Allgaier in a last lap dash to earn his 11th career NASCAR Xfinity Series win, and his first of the season. Creed, who started on the pole, would dominate the race in general, leading a race-high 47 laps. To fill out the podium, Allgaier, driving for JR Motorsports, and Sam Mayer, also driving for JR Motorsports, would finish 2nd and 3rd, respectively.
