At the 2006 census, the county's population was 663,822, in 130,763 families; excluding those portions, the population was 617,926, in 122,282 families. The county is subdivided into three districts: the Central District, Kurin District, and Nosratabad District. The county has two cities: Zahedan and Nosratabad.
