Jamelie Hassan is a Canadian multidisciplinary artist,lecturer,writer and independent curator.
Peggy Gale is an independent Canadian curator,writer,and editor. Gale studied Art History and received her Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in Art History from the University of Toronto in 1967. Gale has published extensively on time-based works by contemporary artists in numerous magazines and exhibition catalogues. She was editor of Artists Talk 1969-1977,from The Press of the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design,Halifax (2004) and in 2006,she was awarded the Governor General's Award in Visual and Media Arts. Gale was the co-curator for Archival Dialogues:Reading the Black Star Collection in 2012 and later for the Biennale de Montréal 2014,L’avenir,at the Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal. Gale is a member of IKT,AICA,The Writers' Union of Canada,and has been a contributing editor of Canadian Art since 1986.
Meryl McMaster is a Canadian and Plains Cree photographer whose best-known work explores her Indigenous heritage. Based in Ottawa,McMaster frequently practices self-portraiture and portraiture to explore themes of First Nations peoples and cultural identity,and incorporates elements of performance and installation to preserve her mixed heritage and sites of cultural history in the Canadian landscape.
Mireille Perron is a Canadian visual artist,writer,scholar,and assistant professor at Alberta University of the Arts (AUArts) based in Calgary,Alberta. Born in Montreal,Quebec,Perron has been exhibiting widely across Canada,the United States,and Europe since 1982,and has published over 80 essays relating to visual art and craft and has been faculty at ACAD since 1990.
Charmaine Andrea Nelson is a Canadian art historian,educator,author,and independent curator. Nelson was a full professor of art history at McGill University until June 2020 when she joined NSCAD University to develop the Institute for the Study of Canadian Slavery. She is the first tenured Black professor of art history in Canada. Nelson's research interests include the visual culture of slavery,race and representation,Black Canadian studies and African Canadian history as well as critical theory,post-colonial studies,Black feminist scholarship,Transatlantic Slavery Studies,and Black Diaspora Studies. In addition to teaching and publishing in these research areas,Nelson has curated exhibitions,including at the Robert McLaughlin Gallery in Oshawa,Ontario,and the Leonard and Bina Ellen Art Gallery at Concordia University in Montreal,Quebec.

Katherine Boyer is a Métis artist,whose multidisciplinary practice focuses primarily on the mediums of sculpture,printmaking and beadwork. She was born and raised in Regina,Saskatchewan,but currently resides in Winnipeg,Manitoba—a location that has had a direct influence on her current artistic practice.
Buseje Bailey is a Canadian artist and curator working in video and multi-media whose work explores the construction of the diasporic Black self. Bailey's multidisciplinary work explores themes of the Black diasporic identity and women's history. Her video work is distributed by V tape in Toronto. She was cited as an outstanding Black Canadian artist in a 2018 article published by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation.

The word DAWA means "medicine" in Kiswahili.

Katerina Atanassova has been the Senior Curator of Canadian Art at the National Gallery of Canada since 2014. She is an art historian and museum administrator of diverse interests,from medieval to contemporary Canadian art. At the National Gallery of Canada,she is responsible for developing the national collections of Canadian painting,sculpture,prints and drawings,and decorative arts,dating up to 1980,and she has re-installed the permanent collection of Canadian art as well as curating exhibitions.
