Panama, Missouri

Panama is an unincorporated community in northern Vernon County, in the U.S. state of Missouri. [1] The community is on Missouri Route TT adjacent to the east side of US Route 71. The Vernon-Bates county line is one half mile north. Rich Hill is 3.5 miles north and Nevada is 13 miles south. The Four Rivers Conservation Area on the Little Osage River is two miles south. [2]

History

A post office called Panama was established in 1893, and remained in operation until 1909. [3] The community was named after the Panama Canal project. [4]

Duncan Creek is a stream in Bates and Vernon counties in the U.S. state of Missouri. It is a tributary of the Little Osage River. The stream headwaters arise at 38°4′55″N94°34′58″W south of the community of Hume in Bates County and one mile from the Missouri-Kansas border. It flows to the south into Vernon County and passes just west of the community of Amos and on to its confluence with the Little Osage two miles northwest of Stotesbury at 37°59′48″N94°35′3″W.

Gore is an unincorporated community in southwest Warren County, in the U.S. state of Missouri. The community lies on the north edge of the Missouri River Valley. Missouri Route 94 passes just north of the community and the Katy Trail passes the location. The Loutre Slough joins the Missouri River just south of the community.

Peers is an unincorporated community in southern Warren County, in the U.S. state of Missouri. The community is on the north edge of the Missouri River floodplain and Treloar is four miles to the west on Missouri Route 94.

The Pennsylvania State Game Lands Number 14 are Pennsylvania State Game Lands in Cameron, and Elk Counties in Pennsylvania in the United States providing hunting, bird watching, and other activities.
