The Park Inn by Radisson Berlin Alexanderplatz is the second tallest building in Berlin and the 42th-tallest building and tallest hotel-only building in Germany. The 37-floor skyscraper is in the northeast of Alexanderplatz in the central Mitte district and has a height of 125 metres (410 feet).
The complex was built from 1967 to 1970 in the course of the redevelopment of Alexanderplatz when it was located in East Berlin. It was designed by the team of Roland Korn, Heinz Scharlipp and Hans Erich Bogatzky. However, the design as built differs in the shape and location of the tower on the lot from that envisaged in the 1964 plan for redevelopment of the square. The four-star hotel opened as the Hotel Stadt Berlin, part of East Germany's Interhotel chain. There was a panorama restaurant on the 37th floor and unusually fast elevators for the time and place.
In 1993, after the German reunification and until 2003, it had been extensively refurbished and renamed Forum Hotel Berlin, then operated by IHG Hotels & Resorts.
In 2003, Rezidor Hotel Group became the operator of the hotel, which was renamed to Park Inn Berlin-Alexanderplatz [2] and subsequently Park Inn by Radisson Berlin Alexanderplatz. A casino, the highest in Europe, was located in the restaurant until November 2010.
There is a public viewing platform on the roof. All the rooms were refurbished starting in 2001 at a cost of € 20 million. Between May and November 2005 the entire 15,000-square-metre (160,000 sq ft) façade was replaced; the 6,800 new mirror-glass panes cost €3 million. In October 2006, two 35-metre (115 ft) antenna masts were erected on the roof, bringing the total height of the building to 149.5 m (490 ft).
In December 2006 the hotel and the attached real estate parcels were acquired by Blackstone Group. [3]
The base of the tower rises from a three-story commercial building with its largest tenants being Burger King and Primark amongst some smaller stores. The top floor offers direct access to the adjacent Galeria department store, which had been a Centrum Warenhaus in the GDR. For 15 years, the ground floor and basement levels housed Berlin's first Saturn electronics store (like Galeria, formerly a division of Metro), but in March 2009 this outlet relocated to a new adjacent building.
The future of the hotel and especially the base building are uncertain; plans to rebuild Alexanderplatz drawn up in the early 1990s envisage demolition of the hotel or at a minimum of the base building to enable erection of three new high-rises. [3] As of April 2024, [update] a new high-rise building is under construction directly next to the base building without plans to affect it directly.
Alexanderplatz is a large public square and transport hub in the central Mitte district of Berlin. The square is named after the Russian Tsar Alexander I, which also denotes the larger neighbourhood stretching from Mollstraße in the north-east to Spandauer Straße and the Rotes Rathaus in the south-west.
The Fernsehturm in central Berlin was constructed between 1965 and 1969 by the government of the German Democratic Republic, or East Germany, as both a functional broadcasting facility and a symbol of Communist power.
St Johns Beacon is a radio and observation tower in Liverpool, England. Designed by James A. Roberts Associates, it was built in 1969 and opened by Queen Elizabeth II. The tower is 138 metres (453 ft) tall, and is the second-tallest free-standing structure in Liverpool. It has a 10 m (33 ft) long antenna on the roof, making it the tallest structure in Liverpool when antennas are included.
Cheung Kong Center is a skyscraper in Central, Hong Kong designed by Cesar Pelli. The 70-storey structure is 283 m (928 ft) tall with a gross floor area of 1,260,000-square-foot (117,100 m2). When completed in 1999, it was the fourth-tallest building in the city after the Central Plaza, Bank of China Tower and The Center. The Cheung Kong Center sits on the combined sites of the former Hong Kong Hilton, which was demolished in 1995/6, and Beaconsfield House, sold by the Government in 1996. It stands between the HSBC Hong Kong headquarters building and the Bank of China Tower.

It is the 8th tallest building in Ottawa and 10th tallest building in the National Capital Region. The hotel is well known for the revolving room on its roof.
10 Holloway Circus is a 400-foot (122 m) tall mixed-use skyscraper in Birmingham city centre, England. It was originally named after the developers, Beetham Organisation, and was designed by Ian Simpson and built by Laing O'Rourke. The entire development covers an area of 7,000 square feet (650 m2). It is the second tallest building in Birmingham and the 74th tallest building in the United Kingdom.
The V Building was a proposed 51-storey residential skyscraper approved for construction on Broad Street on the Westside of the city centre of Birmingham, England. The tower was part of the larger Arena Central development scheme on the former ATV / Central Television Studios, closed in 1997. The entire development site covered an area of 7.6 acres (31,000 m2). On completion the development was set to include offices, shops, restaurants, cafes, leisure/entertainment, fitness centre and hotel. It was to have been built on the site of a multi-level underground car park next to Alpha Tower, one of the tallest buildings in Birmingham. The total cost of the entire scheme was expected to be £400 million and of the tower, £150 million.
Aqua is an 82-story mixed-use skyscraper in Lakeshore East, downtown Chicago, Illinois. Designed by a team led by Jeanne Gang of Studio Gang Architects, with James Loewenberg of Loewenberg & Associates as the Architect of Record, it includes five levels of parking below ground. The building's eighty-story, 140,000 sq ft (13,000 m2) base is topped by a 82,550 sq ft (7,669 m2) terrace with gardens, gazebos, pools, hot tubs, a walking/running track and a fire pit. Each floor covers approximately 16,000 sq ft (1,500 m2).
The Tour Part-Dieu is a skyscraper in Lyon, France. The building is 164.9 metres (541 ft) tall, in La Part-Dieu district, with 42 floors. The building was completed in 1977. It currently stands as the thirteenth-tallest building in France. The top 10 floors are occupied by Radisson Blu Hotel Lyon, the highest hotel in Europe. The other floors are offices.

Hotel Ukraina, also branded and marketed as the Radisson Collection Hotel, Moscow, is a five-star luxury hotel in the city centre of Moscow, on a bend of the Moskva River. The hotel is one of the "Seven Sisters", and stands 206 metres (676 ft) tall. It is the tallest hotel in Russia, the tallest hotel in Europe, and the 52nd-tallest hotel in the world. It is a Radisson Collection hotel, managed by the Rezidor Hotel Group.

Four, also known as Four Frankfurt, is a major, luxury mixed-use skyscraper project in Frankfurt, consisting of a complex of four skyscrapers under construction. It is located in the area known as the Deutsche Bank triangle in the Innenstadt borough. The tallest skyscraper is 233 metres (764 ft) high and has the highest usable floor in Frankfurt. By total building height it is both Frankfurt and Germany's third-tallest building upon its estimated completion in 2024. Dutch star-architect and student of Zaha Hadid, Ben van Berkel has designed and developed the building.
Kings Tower is an approved skyscraper that will be located on Castle Square at the junction of High Street and Angel Street in Sheffield, South Yorkshire. With a planned height of 120 m (390 ft) once completed, Kings Tower will overtake Code Sheffield, and St Pauls Tower as the tallest building in Sheffield and in Yorkshire. Plans for the tower were submitted by architects Hodder + Partners in September 2020, calling initially for a 39-storey tower. Planning permission was granted in December 2020, and construction is planned to complete in 2023. Amended plans were submitted in late 2022, adding a 40th floor to the project.
