Parteek Dahiya (born 11 June 2002 [1] ) is an Indian kabaddi player who currently[ when? ] plays for Gujarat Giants in VIVO Pro Kabaddi league. [2] [3] Dahiya was picked up by Gujarat Giants in the Season 9 auction. In VIVO Pro Kabaddi Season 9, Dahiya score 183 points and get 6th place in top 10 ten raider of pkl season 9. [4]

Early life

Parteek Dahiya was born in Sonipat district of Haryana. His father is a farmer and mother a homemaker. Prateek started playing Kabaddi inspired by his maternal uncle Deepak Niwas Hooda. [5] His sister Preeti Dahiya is an international level boxer. [1] His maternal uncle Deepak Niwas Hooda is an international Kabaddi player and has also captained the Indian Kabaddi team. His maternal aunt Sweety Boora is also an international boxer. [6]

Kabaddi career

Parteek Dahiya was bought by Patana pairets in PKL season 8 auction but he did not get a chance to play any match. [7] He Scored 250 points leading his maternal uncle's team Deepak Niwas Hooda Foundation in the 2022 k7 kabaddi league. [8] In pkl season 9 playing for Gujarat giants he scored total 183 points in 19 matches with 178 raid points and 5 tackles. [4]

The team is currently led by Maninder Singh and coached by Kasinatha Baskaran. The team play their home matches at the Netaji Indoor Stadium.

The 2021–22 Vivo Pro Kabaddi League was the eighth season of Pro Kabaddi League. The season began on 22 December 2021. The usual travelling caravan format was changed to a single venue hosting all the matches of the season. Kanteerava Indoor Stadium, Bangalore was initially announced as the venue, but was later changed to the Sheraton Grand Hotel and Convention Center located in Whitefield, Bangalore.

After winning the Junior Nationals in 2015 and 2016, he was picked up by Patna Pirates for the PKL season 4. He later transferred to Jaipur Pink Panthers. In 2023, Kumar competed for India at the 2022 Asian Games; the team won gold, controversially defeating Iran 33–29 in the finals.
