Partula pearcekellyi is a species of arboreal gastropod in the family Partulidae. [1]
Although all material consists of juvenile specimens, they all appeared to be developing an anatomical structure similar to that of Partula hebe .
P. pearcekellyi is known from six specimens collected in the Toahiva Valley, four of which were live-collected juveniles found upon low shrubs and ferns, in leaf litter, and on the stumps of dead trees. During the same collection, 1 juvenile and 26 adult P. hebe specimens were taken alive, suggesting that pearcekellyi was a "rare canopy species".
Partula pearcekellyi was named after Paul Pearce-Kelly of the Zoological Society of London, a renowned conservationist. [2]
Henry Edward Crampton was an American evolutionary biologist and malacologist who specialized in the study of land snails. Crampton undertook the first major study of evolution in nature in his research in the Society Islands. Crampton made twelve separate expeditions over the course of his career to Moorea near Tahiti to study the land snail genus Partula, while years more were spent measuring and cataloguing his specimens. In all, he dedicated nearly half-a-century to the study.
Eua is a genus of air-breathing land snails, terrestrial pulmonate gastropod mollusks in the family Partulidae.
†Partula dolorosa was a species of air-breathing tropical land snail, a terrestrial pulmonate gastropod mollusk in the family Partulidae. This species was endemic to a highland on Raiatea, French Polynesia. It is now extinct.
Partula faba was a species of air-breathing tropical land snail, a terrestrial pulmonate gastropod mollusk in the family Partulidae. This species was endemic to Ra'iātea and Tahaa, neighbouring islands which share the same lagoon, in French Polynesia. It is now extinct. The species was the first Partula to be recorded.
The fat Guam partula or tree snail, scientific name Partula gibba, is a species of air-breathing land snail, a terrestrial gastropod mollusk in the family Partulidae.
Partula guamensis is a species of air-breathing tropical land snail, a terrestrial pulmonate gastropod mollusk in the family Partulidae.
Partula hebe is a species of air-breathing tropical land snail, a terrestrial pulmonate gastropod mollusk in the family Partulidae. This species was endemic to Ra'iātea, French Polynesia. It is now extinct in the wild.
Samoana jackieburchi was a species of tropical, air-breathing land snail, a terrestrial, pulmonate, gastropod mollusk in the family Partulidae. This species was endemic to Tahiti, Society Islands, French Polynesia.
Partula langfordi is a species of air-breathing land snail, a terrestrial pulmonate gastropod mollusk in the family Partulidae. This species is known by the common name Langford's tree snail and endemic to the Northern Mariana Islands.
†Partula lutea was a species of air-breathing tropical land snail, a terrestrial pulmonate gastropod mollusk in the family Partulidae. This species was endemic to Bora Bora, French Polynesia. It is now extinct. This was a relatively uniform species with several color forms and was originally exceedingly common on Mount Otemanu, yet was originally believed to have become extinct in the early 1990s. Evidence in the condition of recently collected shells show that P. lutea survived 10 years further than it had once been thought. Some shells have been found in lava tubes or under rocky overhangs in forests of Hibiscus tiliaceaus. The species had become extinct due to predation by flatworms, Euglandina, and Lissachatina species. A similar population has been discovered on Maupiti, an island near to Bora Bora, also represented by shells that may have been introduced to the island in the 19th century.
Partula mooreana, common name the Moorean viviparous tree snail, is a species of air-breathing tropical land snail, a terrestrial pulmonate gastropod mollusk in the family Partulidae. This species was endemic to French Polynesia. It is now extinct in the wild.
Partula radiolata, common name the radiolate partula or guam streaked tree snail, is a species of air-breathing tropical land snail, a terrestrial pulmonate gastropod mollusk in the family Partulidae. This species is endemic to Guam.
Partula suturalis, common name the moorean viviparous tree snail or sutural partula, is a species of air-breathing tropical land snail, a terrestrial pulmonate gastropod mollusk in the family Partulidae. This species was endemic to the island of Moorea, French Polynesia. It is now extinct in the wild. It was previously listed as extinct in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species, but has been moved to extinct in the wild since 2009. This error was the result of changing taxonomy.
Partula taeniata, common name the Moorean viviparous tree snail, is a species of terrestrial gastropod in the Partulidae family. It is endemic to French Polynesia.
Partula tohiveana, common name the Moorean viviparous tree snail, is a species of air-breathing tropical land snail, a terrestrial pulmonate gastropod mollusk in the family Partulidae. This species was endemic to highlands on Moorea, French Polynesia. It is now extinct in the wild.

Partulidae is a family of air-breathing land snails, terrestrial gastropod mollusks in the superfamily Partuloidea. The family is endemic to Pacific islands.
Partula is a genus of air-breathing tropical land snails, terrestrial pulmonate gastropod mollusks in the family Partulidae. Many species of Partula are known under the general common names "Polynesian tree snail" and "Moorean viviparous tree snail".
