Patrick "Pat" Clinton (born 4 April 1964) Was a Scottish former professional boxer who competed from 1985 to 1994. He held the WBO flyweight title from 1992 to 1993. At regional level, he held the British flyweight title from 1988 to 1999, and the EBU European title in 1990.
Born and raised in Croy, Scotland, one of ten children, his father Billy was a former Scottish professional champion and his uncle Jim an amateur champion. [2]
He was a member of Croy Miners Amateur Boxing Club. Clinton represented Great Britain as a Flyweight at the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. Results were:
Clinton was also the Amateur Boxing Association of England flyweight champion in 1984 and 1985. [3]
Clinton turned professional in 1985, his first pro fight a points victory over Gordon Stobie in October that year. After winning his first eleven fights, he won his first title in September 1987, stopping Joe Kelly to take the vacant BBBofC Scottish Area flyweight title. In his next fight he again faced Kelly with Clinton's Scottish Area title and the vacant British title at stake. Clinton won on points this time to become British champion.
In February 1989, Clinton faced Eyüp Can for the vacant European title, losing a unanimous decision. He made successful defences of his British title against Danny Porter and David Afan Jones before getting a second shot at the European title in August 1990; Clinton took a majority decision against Salvatore Fanni in Cagliari to take the vacant European title. In March 1992, Clinton challenged for the WBO world flyweight title held by Isidro Pérez at the Kelvin Hall in Glasgow. Clinton took a split decision to become WBO world champion. [5] [6] In September 1992 he successfully defended the world title against Porter, but lost it in May 1993 when he was stopped by Jacob Matlala in the eighth round at the Scottish Exhibition Centre. Clinton was out of the ring for eleven months, returning in April 1994 to face Adey Benton. Benton stopped him in the first round, in what proved to be Clinton's final fight. [2] [7] He retired at the age of 30 with a professional record of 20 wins and three losses.
In his thirties, as a result of perforated eardrums suffered during his boxing career, Clinton suffered tinnitus and started to lose his hearing, and had to start wearing a hearing aid at the age of 33. [2] He returned to his trade as a joiner before going on to work as a salesman for British Gas. [7]
Michael Lee Moorer is an American former professional boxer who competed from 1988 to 2008. He won a world championship on four separate occasions in two weight classes, having held the WBO light heavyweight title from 1988 to 1991; compiling 22 straight KOs in 22 fights and the WBO heavyweight title from 1992 to 1993; the unified WBA, IBF and lineal heavyweight titles in 1994; and regained the IBF heavyweight title again from 1996 to 1997 becoming a three-time heavyweight world champion.
Nelson Dieppa-Gerena is a Puerto Rican professional boxer. As an amateur, he represented Puerto Rico in international events including the 1991 World Amateur Boxing Championships, 1991 Pan American Games and the 1992 Summer Olympics. Dieppa debuted as a professional on February 13, 1993, when he defeated Carlos Figueroa. His first world championship fight took place on July 3, 2000, when he lost to Will Grigsby for the World Boxing Organization's light flyweight championship. Following this fight Grigsby tested positive for illegal drugs and the title was declared vacant. Following this fight the title was won by Masibulele Makepula but was stripped again. He won the vacant title on April 14, 2001, in a fight against Andy Tabanas. Dieppa defended the title successfully five times before losing it to Hugo Cázares on April 30, 2005.
Ricardo López Nava is a Mexican former professional boxer who competed from 1985 to 2001. He was a two-weight world champion, having held the WBC mini flyweight title from 1990 to 1998, defending it against a record-breaking 21 opponents; the WBA and WBO mini flyweight titles between 1997 and 1998; and the IBF junior flyweight title from 1999 until his retirement in 2001. He is one of just fifteen world boxing champions to retire without a loss. He is the father of undefeated former boxer Alonso López.
Joel Casamayor Johnson is a Cuban American former professional boxer who competed from 1996 to 2011. He held world championships in two weight classes, including the WBA super featherweight title from 2000 to 2002; and the WBC, Ring magazine and lineal lightweight titles between 2006 and 2008. As an amateur, Casamayor won a gold medal in the bantamweight division at the 1992 Olympics, after which he defected to the United States on the eve of the 1996 Olympics.
Brian Viloria is a retired American professional boxer of Filipino descent. He is a former unified WBA and WBO flyweight champion, as well as a former WBC and IBF light flyweight champion. His nickname of "The Hawaiian Punch" was first given to him by Jesus Salud, a fellow Hawaiian of Filipino descent and himself a former world champion in boxing.
Scott Harrison is a Scottish professional boxer who held the WBO featherweight title twice between 2002 and 2005. At regional level, he held the Commonwealth featherweight title from 2000 to 2002 and the British featherweight title in 2001. As an amateur, he won a bronze medal in the featherweight division at the 1996 European Championships.
Duke McKenzie is a British former professional boxer who competed from 1982 to 1998. He is a three-weight world champion, having held the IBF flyweight title from 1988 to 1989; the WBO bantamweight title from 1991 to 1992; and the WBO junior-featherweight title from 1992 to 1993. At regional level he held the British flyweight title from 1985 to 1988; the European flyweight title from 1986 to 1988; and the British featherweight title from 1993 to 1994. After retiring from the sport, McKenzie has worked as a boxing commentator for broadcaster ITV.

Johnny Bredahl Johansen, known professionally as Johnny Bredahl or Johny Wahid Johansen, is a Danish former professional boxer who competed between 1989 and 2006. He is a world champion in two weight classes, having held the WBO super-flyweight title from 1992 to 1994 and the WBA bantamweight title between 2002 and 2004.
Robbie Regan is a Welsh former professional boxer who competed from 1989 to 1996. He held the WBO bantamweight title in 1996, the IBF interim flyweight title in 1995, and once challenged for the WBO flyweight title in 1995. At regional level, he held the British flyweight title twice between 1991 and 1992, and the EBU European flyweight title twice between 1992 and 1994.
