Patrick Christys is a British journalist and presenter. He currently hosts Patrick Christys Tonight on GB News. [2]

Career

Christys started his career in 2014, as a reporter for The Westmorland Gazette in Kendal, Cumbria. [3]

In August 2021, Christys joined GB News, initially presenting To the Point alongside Mercy Muroki. [4] Former GB News chairman Andrew Neil, who left the channel in September 2021, criticised the appointments of Christys and Mark Dolan, calling them "shock jocks". [5] In November 2023, in light of the suspension of weekday primetime presenter Dan Wootton, [6] it was announced that Christys would be presenting Wootton's weekday 9pm Tonight programme on GB News until further notice. [7] [8]

Christys has also appeared as a political commentator and contributor on the BBC's Politics Live [9] and Sky News. [10]

He is a recovering alcoholic. [11]

Charitable activities

In June 2023, he performed with the Dreamboys [12] to raise awareness of men's mental health, generating over £110,000 in donations for mental health charity Mind. [13]

In November 2023, Christys raised over £270,000 for the Royal British Legion as part of its Poppy Appeal. [14]

In November 2024, Christys raised £407,000 (£71,236 of that in Gift Aid) for UK charity Friends of the Elderly.

The Westmorland Gazette is a weekly newspaper published in Kendal, England, covering "South Lakeland and surrounding areas", including Barrow and North Lancashire. Its name refers to the historic county of Westmorland. The paper is now owned by the Newsquest group, forming part of Westmorland Gazette Newspapers, which includes the weekly freesheet South Lakes Citizen and other titles. It has an office in Ulverston in addition to its Kendal base. The circulation is about 7,500. It changed from broadsheet to compact format in August 2009. The editor, Vanessa Sims, also edits Cumbrian titles the Mail, the News & Star, The Cumberland News, the Whitehaven News, and the Times & Star.
