The Czech Republic is a unitary parliamentary republic, in which the president is the head of state and the prime minister is the head of government. Executive power is exercised by the Government of the Czech Republic, which reports to the Chamber of Deputies. The legislature is exercised by the Parliament. The Czech Parliament is bicameral: the upper house of the Parliament is the Senate, and the lower house is the Chamber of Deputies. The Senate consists of 81 members who are elected for six years. The Chamber of Deputies consists of 200 members who are elected for four years. The judiciary system is topped by the trio of the Constitutional Court, Supreme Court and Supreme Administrative Court.
The Czech Republic has offered registered partnerships for same-sex couples since 1 July 2006. Registered partnerships grant several of the rights of marriage, including inheritance, the right to declare a same-sex partner as next of kin, hospital visitation rights, jail and prison visitation rights, spousal privilege, and alimony rights, but do not allow joint adoption, widow's pension, or joint property rights. The registered partnership law was passed in March 2006 and went into effect on 1 July 2006. The country also grants unregistered cohabitation status to "persons living in a common household" that gives couples inheritance and succession rights in housing.
Bohuslav Sobotka is a Czech politician and lawyer who served as the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic from January 2014 to December 2017 and Leader of the Czech Social Democratic Party (ČSSD) from 2010 until his resignation in June 2017. He was Member of the Chamber of Deputies (MP) from 1996 to 2018. Sobotka also served as minister of Finance from 2002 to 2006.
The Mayors and Independents, abbreviated to STAN, is a liberal to liberal conservative political party in the Czech Republic that is focused on localism, regionalism and subsidiarity. The party grew out of four minor parties, including Independent Mayors for the Region, which allied itself with the liberal-conservative SNK European Democrats, and cooperated with the similarly liberal-conservative TOP 09 until 2016. It holds 33 seats in the Chamber of Deputies, and is the third strongest party by number of seats following the 2021 election.

All 200 members of the Chamber of Deputies were elected and Andrej Babiš of ANO 2011, also the leader of the resultant government, became the Prime Minister. The coalition government following the 2013 parliamentary elections consisted of the two largest parties: the Czech Social Democratic Party (ČSSD) of Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka, and ANO 2011 (ANO), led by former Finance Minister and businessman Andrej Babiš, alongside the Christian and Democratic Union – Czechoslovak People's Party (KDU–ČSL). The largest opposition party was the Communist Party of Bohemia and Moravia (KSČM), followed by centre-right parties TOP 09 and the Civic Democratic Party (ODS).
Andrej Babiš is a Czech politician and businessman who served as the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic from 2017 to 2021. Babiš previously served as the Minister of Finance and Deputy Prime Minister from 2014 to 2017 in Bohuslav Sobotka's Cabinet. He has been the founding leader of the political party ANO 2011 since 2012.
Věra Jourová is a Czech politician and lawyer who has been the Vice President of the European Commission for Values and Transparency since 1 December 2019 and previously served as the European Commissioner for Justice, Consumers and Gender Equality from 2014 to 2019. She served as a Member of the Chamber of Deputies between 2013 and 2014 and as the Czech Minister for Regional Development in 2014.

Parliamentary elections were held in the Czech Republic on 8 and 9 October 2021. All 200 members of the Chamber of Deputies were elected, with the leader of the resulting government to become the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic. Following the 2017 parliamentary elections, the country had been ruled by a minority government consisting of ANO 2011 (ANO), led by prime minister Andrej Babiš, and the Czech Social Democratic Party (ČSSD), led by interior minister Jan Hamáček, with confidence and supply support from the Communist Party of Bohemia and Moravia (KSČM) until April 2021. The largest opposition party was the Civic Democratic Party (ODS), followed by the Czech Pirate Party. Other parties in the Chamber of Deputies included SPD, TOP 09, STAN, and KDU-ČSL.
Ivan Bartoš is a Czech civil rights activist and a Czech Pirate Party politician, serving as the Minister of Regional Development and Deputy Prime Minister for Digitalization in the governing Cabinet of Petr Fiala since December 2021. He has been a member of the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Republic since October 2017, and the chairman of the party since 2016, as well as previously between 2009 and 2014.
Radek Vondráček is a Czech lawyer and politician who has served as President of the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Republic since November 2017. He previously served as First Deputy President of the Chamber of Deputies from January 2017 to October 2017. Vondráček was first elected Member of the Chamber of Deputies (MP) in 2013 and again re-elected at the October 2017 election. Vondráček is member of the movement ANO 2011 which is by far the strongest political party in the Czech Republic since the parliamentary election of 21 October 2017.
The 2018 Prague municipal elections were held in Prague in on 5 and 6 October 2018 as part of nationwide municipal elections. All 65 seats of the Prague Assembly were up to elect. Full results were presented a day later, on 7 October 2018.
The second cabinet of Andrej Babiš was a centre-left to centre-right minority coalition government in the Czech Republic, consisting of ANO 2011, a populist political movement, and the centre-left Czech Social Democratic Party (ČSSD). The coalition received external support from the Communist Party of Bohemia and Moravia (KSČM). The head of government was Andrej Babiš, leader of ANO.
Jiří Zlatuška is a Czech informaticist, university professor and politician. He was elected in the parliamentary election in 2013 to the Chamber of Deputies on the ANO 2011 platform. From 2015 to 2019 he was Dean of the Faculty of Informatics of the Masaryk University.
The next Czech parliamentary election will be held in or before October 2025. All 200 members of the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Republic will be elected and the leader of the resultant government will become the Prime Minister.
The 2022 Prague municipal election was held in September 2022 as part of the nationwide municipal elections to elect members of the Prague City Assembly. It was a victory for Spolu which received the highest number of votes and seats ahead of ANO 2011 in second place. The Czech Pirate Party led by incumbent Mayor Zdeněk Hřib finished third. New coalition was formed 5 months after election and it consists of Spolu, Pirates and STAN. Bohuslav Svoboda became the new mayor.
Karel Havlíček is a Czech politician. He served as the Deputy Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, Minister of Industry and Trade and Minister of Transport in Second Cabinet of Andrej Babiš. Havlíček has been a member of Chamber of Deputies (MP) since 2021.
Berenika Peštová is a Czech politician, Deputy Minister of the Environment of the Czech Republic from 2014 to 2021, a member of the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Republic since October 2021, a member of the ANO 2011 movement since 2014, and a councillor of the city of Most.
Jana Pastuchová is a Czech politician and health worker. Since October 2013, she is a member of the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Republic, since 2014 a councillor of Jablonec nad Nisou, since 2019 a member of the board of the ANO 2011 movement and chairwoman of the Committee on Social Policy of the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic.
Petr Sadovský is a Czech politician and IT entrepreneur. Since October 2017, he is a member of the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Republic, from 2016 to 2020 a councillor of the Hradec Králové Region, since 2014 a councillor and since 2022 a councillor of the town of Dobruška, a member of the ANO 2011 movement, previously a non-party member of the ČSSD.
