Paul Caplin (born 31 December 1954) is an English businessman, musician, videographer and entrepreneur. Caplin studied as a mathematician at Imperial College, London and at Cambridge University. His career has spanned music, information technology and filmmaking.
Caplin began his musical career in his early twenties in the New Romantic rock group Animal Magnet, and co-wrote their dance track, "Welcome to the Monkey House" (1981). Animal Magnet supported Duran Duran on their first national tour. [1]
He left Animal Magnet to become the “mastermind” [2] behind the 1980s avant-garde new wave pop project Haysi Fantayzee, the other members being Jeremy Healy and Caplin's then girlfriend, Kate Garner. Their music combined reggae, country, and electro with political and sociological lyrics couched as nursery rhymes. [3]
The group disbanded after releasing three hit singles, and an album that went gold. [4] Caplin then launched his own record label, The Love Organization. This had success with Marilyn, who became popular during the mid-1980s vogue for sexually ambivalent pop stars. Caplin managed Marilyn and co-wrote his hit songs.
In 1994, he was executive producer of Pavarotti in Confidence with Peter Ustinov for the BBC.
After running a small group of music production and publishing companies, in 1985 Caplin launched Caplin Cybernetics Corporation, a computer hardware and software developer and a pioneer of machine vision and parallel computing technology. [1]
Caplin Cybernetics became an IBM business partner and was later acquired by the Infinet Group, a diversified group of IT services companies of which Caplin was co-founder and chief executive. [5]
In 2000, Caplin founded FinTech innovator Caplin Systems Ltd and served as its chief executive and chairman until the company’s sale in 2015. Caplin Systems pioneered the distribution of real-time financial data via the web, and built some of the earliest online trading platforms for investment banks. [6]
In 2001, he received an Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year award for his work with the company., [7] and in both 2002 and 2009 Caplin Systems was featured in the Sunday Times Tech Track 100 as one of the fastest-growing technology firms in Britain. [8] [9]
In 2015, Caplin Systems was acquired by Ion Capital Management. [10]
Caplin is married to singer Zeeteah Massiah, with whom he writes and produces music. [11] They have released two albums together: Juice (2014) and Maybe Tomorrow (2016). [12]

Duran Duran are an English new wave band formed in Birmingham in 1978 by singer and bassist Stephen Duffy, keyboardist Nick Rhodes and guitarist/bassist John Taylor. With the addition of drummer Roger Taylor the following year, the band went through numerous personnel changes before May 1980, when they settled on their most famous line-up by adding guitarist Andy Taylor and lead vocalist Simon Le Bon.
Monster Magnet is an American rock band. Hailing from Red Bank, New Jersey, the group was founded in 1989 by Dave Wyndorf, John McBain (guitar) and Tim Cronin ; they have since gone through several lineup changes, leaving Wyndorf as the only constant member. Monster Magnet has released ten studio albums to date, and they are best known for their 1990s hits "Negasonic Teenage Warhead" and "Space Lord". The band has also been credited for developing and popularizing the stoner rock genre, along with Masters of Reality, Kyuss, Fu Manchu and Sleep.
Holy Wood (In the Shadow of the Valley of Death) is the fourth studio album by American rock band Marilyn Manson. It was released on November 11, 2000, by Nothing and Interscope Records. A rock opera concept album, it is the final installment of a triptych that also included Antichrist Superstar (1996), and marked a return to the industrial metal style of the band's earlier work, after the glam rock-influenced production of Mechanical Animals (1998). After its release, the band's eponymous vocalist said that the overarching story within the trilogy is presented in reverse chronological order: Holy Wood, therefore, begins the narrative.

The Beautiful Monsters Tour was a North American concert tour co-headlined by American rock bands Hole and Marilyn Manson. Launched in support of each band's respective third full-length studio LPs, 1998's Celebrity Skin and Mechanical Animals, the tour was planned to run from February 28, 1999, until April 27, with 37 shows confirmed. However, due to a highly publicized altercation between the bands' respective lead vocalists, the tour only visited arenas until March 14, for a total of 9 shows before Hole withdrew from the bill. The tour garnered a large amount of media attention and was billed by MTV as a "potentially volatile mix" due to the public feud between each band's outspoken vocalist.

The album was produced by Mr Hudson and Joshua Blair, who had worked with the band on All You Need Is Now (2010) and A Diamond in the Mind: Live 2011 (2012); Nile Rodgers, who had previously first worked on the band's "The Reflex", his remixed version reaching number one, "The Wild Boys" single and Notorious album, and Mark Ronson, who produced All You Need Is Now. The first single, "Pressure Off", features vocals from American singer Janelle Monáe. The album was supported by the Paper Gods on Tour.
