Pedro Canavarro (born May 9,1937) is a Portuguese academic and politician,and a former Member of the European Parliament.
Pedro Canavarro was born in Santarém on May 9,1937. [1]
Great-grandson of politician and parliamentarian Passos Manuel,Pedro Canavarro holds a degree in history from the University of Lisbon and a diploma in Museology and Museum Conservation from the National Museum of Ancient Art. [2]
Academically,at the University of Lisbon,he taught Art History,Portuguese and Overseas Art,Greek Civilization,Urbanism,and Portuguese Culture. In Japan,he was a Portuguese language lecturer at the universities of Tokyo,Keio,Sophia,and Foreign Languages. [2]
As a politician,he served as a member of the European Parliament from 1989 to 1991 for the Socialist Party and from 1991 to 1994 for the Democratic Renewal Party (PRD). [1] He was also an independent candidate in the European Elections in Italy. [2]
He was a member of the Municipal Assembly and a councilor of the Municipal Chamber of Santarém,serving as a member and Secretary-General of the PRD (Democratic Renewal Party. [2]
Among other activities,he was the General Commissioner of the 17th Exhibition of Art,Science,and Culture,and is the author of works in the fields of History,Art,Culture,and Politics. [2]
